Clinging To The Wreckage - By John Mortimer. Abridged audiobook (Part2).
Creator of the mysteries starring the beloved English barrister, Horace Rumpole, John Mortimer paints a spirited portrait of his own colorful life in his quirky autobiography, Clinging to the Wreckage. With wit and style, he takes you from his austere childhood in a 1930s British boarding school to his successful dual career in law and writing during the 1980s. Raised on his barrister father’s sordid tales of divorce cases, young John Mortimer grew up to view the world with an acute sense for the absurd. As an adult, he has maintained his huge appetite for laughter and life, despite his daily legal work defending violent criminals and handling shipwrecked marriages. (Amazon)

I have read dear Mortimer and fell out of my chair laughing at the antics of Rumpole and She Who Must Be Obeyed! But this book about his father (and what a father!) eluded me for year's. So I heartily thank you from across the Pond❤️

A brilliant man. Thank goodness he shared this amazing record, so we could understand so much of the wonders he shared and all through his own voice and expression. He is undoubtedly my favourite expressionist and story teller. So gifted and yet so down to earth. A brilliant man.Thankyou. Cheers, John(Australia)

Thank you much for posting. He writes very well and as with much good writing, it comes across very well when read out. A lot of what is in Rumpole was in his father. This book also shows well that life is not necessary what we imagine as an ideal. Life is what you know after experiencing the gritty, after you make choices and deal with the consequences. His opinions on the death penalty and murder are very good.

Thank you john .your story's of Rumpole gave me the love of seeking the truth .as Rumpole fought for over biast judges of little learning. As always the business of court is just business. most judges hide behind contempt of court .and they become so emparased if exposed to the court public opinion .Curie Adversary Vult should be ensrigh over the wall in every court.
