On September 21, Climeworks transformed the Swiss Institute into a hub for carbon removal. After diving into Boston Consulting Group (BCG)'s latest report, “The Time for Carbon Removal Has Come”, we had a frank exchange about the business case for carbon removal with top experts in the field: Carbon180, Fossil Energy and Carbon Management , JPMorgan Chase & Co. , the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the WBCSD - World Business Council for Sustainable Development. High-quality standards for carbon removal continue to be top of mind for buyers and continue to be pushed forward by Climeworks: we will work with Puro.earth to certify our CDR services.
We concluded the day with our CDR happy hour to celebrate our journey so far and to bring to life exciting next steps: as announced by our co-CEO and co-founder Christoph Gebald, Climeworks collaborates with Great Carbon Valley to start exploring the feasibility of direct air capture and storage (DAC+S) in Kenya.
