Climbing the Mount Cordeaux summit + Bare Rock hike: Best walks near Brisbane! (Main Range NP)
Looking for a new hike in the Brisbane region? You have to do this to one!
The Mount Cordeaux summit track is a well trafficked hike located in the Main Range National park in South East Queensland. The track is 6km return, well marked to the top and easily worth the climb for the stunning view over the scenic rim!
Additionally the Bare Rock trail starts from the end of the Mount Cordeaux track and is another interesting walk again with stunning views and an incredible look out at the end. The track to Bare Rock from the car park is just over 12km return but worth doing if you enjoy a hike and a good view.
The Main Range National Park is also home to a number of other walks such as the rainforest circuit and Mount Mitchell climb so make sure you have plenty of time to check out this beautiful area.
Thanks again for watching! I hope this little video helps a little when it comes to choosing your next hike, mountain climb or National Park adventure!

Well done Laura! This was a great presentation and I'll definitely be putting this walk on my To Do list.
I loved Mt Cordeaux last time I was there, but I'd actually forgotten how great it is. Glad to have this reminder, I'll have to get out that way again!

Aw thanks mate, it really is a beautiful spot! I actually had it recommended to me and couldn’t believe what a good spot and easy climb I’d been missing. Definitely get out there and check it out again if you get the chance 😄
Quite some years back there used to be chain you could us to reach the summit proper.
That was wonderful thanks again. I enjoyed your work... and am adding to my scenic rim walk bucket list LOL 😆
Thanks for this video - it was really helpful to see what the track is like. We did Mt Mitchell a week ago and it is so beautiful! The view from the top is amazing. It took us about 4 hours including rest stops, lunch at the top and stopping to taking photos ☺️
Nice video Laura, stunning views :) I still need to do this hike!

Thanks mate! Definitely more to come, just have to find the time to edit while I’m on the road 😅 hopefully soon!
It was so good compared to what you've said 😊😊😊. Well done.
New evidence has surfaced, your actually walking on a ancient damaged building. All mountains are old damaged buildings. The waterfalls are the plumbing that is still working.
That isn't the summit.

Hey Philip, thanks for your comment however I’m a little lost as to which section you’re talking about? It was a little while ago I did this hike but from memory if you are talking about just the Mt Cordeaux section then the track leads to the lookout I’ve featured here. I think you’re right that there was a higher point however personally on popular tracks like this I believe it’s impossible for hikers to stay on the tracks to avoid damaging the surrounding vegetation. Hope that helps (:

@@LauraWaddellTravel The track up from the lookout's still there, past a couple of grass trees and keep going. Although sure QPWS discourages its use as there is some exposure.

Oh how interesting, thanks for the tip! As I said I unfortunately didn’t notice it when I was there so if I get to do it again I’ll definitely make sure to have a look, it really is a beautiful hike!
