Climbing Mt. Fuji at Night to see the Morning Sunrise

There is an expression in Japanese that, " A wise man climbs Mt. Fuji once, only a fool climbs it twice." Climbing Mt. Fuji can be physically demanding, and depending on the season and weather, it can be dangerous. Mt. Fuji has an altitude of 3,776 meters and is Japan's most iconic symbol and the highest mountain in Japan.
A sacred mountain honored and revered by pilgrims and artists since ancient times. Mt. Fuji, a World Heritage (Cultural Heritage) site since June 22, 2013, is popular with locals and travelers to Japan. There are four trails to the summit. The Yoshida trail starts from the Yamanashi Prefecture side. The Fujinomiya, Subashiri, and Gotemba trails from the Shizuoka Prefecture side. I took the Yoshida Trail, which has the best access from Tokyo, and the summit ends at the ideal place to see the sunrise.

My goodness!!! What a lovely sight 😍 Mt Fuji has been my childhood fascination. Just looking at it gives some kind of hope 😁 But seriously is there any place in Japan that's not crowded??? Even at the summit there's so many people 😮😮

Thanks for your comments 😊 There are actually many places that have few to no people but they are usually in the countryside or at less famous mountains and temples etc…

That was amazing. I am coming to Japan in July and thinking of making the trek to the summit. Another video I watched they recommended bringing 3L of water and 30L of oxygen. This is the first mention of oxygen and was wondering if it was overkill (fyi they didn't summit for the sunrise but watched from a lower station, summited after sunrise but wrote they suffered headaches and fatigue from the altitude). Also, any suggestions on planning due to it being rainy season? Do you suggest just watching the online weather report and hope for a clear night/day?

I am modestly fit (walk a lot) but had no fatigue or need of oxygen. Water is always a good idea and healthy snacks. Rainy season is over by the end of June throughout the main island of Honshu. But I do recommend layers (altitude changes the temp) and rain gear just in case. Have fun 🤩

Thx for the video. This july im finally going to ck this off my list. I wont know for sure exact day until a few days before i go. Do you think i can get a hut to sleep last minute or are they all sold out? Also can i rent i all the stuff i need at 5th station? I dont have cold wearher gear. Thx again

Yes, the 5th has hiking gear. Huts better to reserve in advance or start the hike around 8pm and arrive by sunrise. That way you wouldn’t need to stop at a hut. If you have a hut reserved start earlier in the afternoon and enjoy a meal and chill time / nap time at the hut 🛖
