Climbing Ben Macdui and Cairngorm Mountain

➤ In today's video I will be climbing Ben Macdui and Cairngorm! These are situated just 5 miles away from Aviemore in the Highlands of Scotland!
THE ROUTE: www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairn...
Munros included:
14/282 Ben Macdui
15/282 Cairngorm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scotland has 282 Munro's - Which are peaks over 3000ft in height, I am aiming to climb them ALL!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
➤SUBSCRIBE to the channel to keep up to date with the latest Munro's! I will document every single one which will help you get a feel for what they are really like - these are not intended as a guide, always take the precautions before hitting the hills!
Also my difficulty rating/overall ratings are the difficulty of the walk, discounting weather conditions! The hills can be dangerous so always be prepared!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DONATE! ➤I am climbing the 282 for myself but also to raise some money for charity - Scottish Mountain Rescue - An amazing charity who are all volunteers, details will be put on the video how to donate soon!

Lovely seeing Lexi. My border collie did all the Munros plus all the Corbetts bar the 2 on Rum where she was not allowed at that time. Her last Munro ascent was Ben Macdui on a February day aged 15 I think. Very doddery and slow by then - I ended up carrying her for about 30% of the way. She finally died at nearly 19 so maybe Munroing is good for dogs.

Did this walk last Wednesday (Sept 6th ‘23) but set off from Glenmore campsite 300m lower. Fantastic weather and very hard work out into a strong head wind.

Poor wee Lexi , you'll need to train her to come back so you can let her off the lead. All that open space and she can't run about haha. Cairngorm is still one i have left to do out my last 21. I thought about a summit camp but looks like too much rocks up there

Haha she does get off a fair bit but she chases all the wild birds in the Cairngorms, which can get me in a bit of trouble 😂 is it? Great day out, yeah I would say a little rocky for a summit camp, do you know which one you will do last? Atb, James

Its a great walk Paul, you have to retrace your steps back from Macdui but then carry on towards Cairngorm, so makes it a decent loop! Enjoy!

Hi. Which munros would you recommend with a dog? We have 1 year old retriever - trying to find some easier ones to take him up without any difficult steep or narrow sections. So far we have taken him up Ben Chonzie and Beinn Ghlas / Ben Lawers. This route here looked quite a good one for a dog… Any info is appreciated

  • @ScottishMunroJourney

Yes this route is great, Meall Chuaich & all the Drumochter Munros are great for dogs, Ben Wyvis, Fionn Bheinn & Bynack More are also good ones! Ive taken my Spaniel Lexi up about 20 Munros, she is no good with steep drops or ridges so I only take her on the easier ones 😁 Enjoy James
