Climb Campanile (Giotto Tower) in Florence, at sunset

The construction of the Campanile Tower was entrusted in 1334 to Giotto who was the most important artist living then, whose name is forever linked with the structure. The tower was built to be a part of Florence's cathedral but its not actually attached to the church.
The tower is covered with precious colored marbles that give it the effect of a flower. And the Duomo shares a similar façade made of red, white and green marble inlay: the colored marble (white from Carrara, green from Monteferrato and pink from Maremma).
