"Climate change is not just our problem!" - a Micronesian mother

As climate change is harshly affecting small Pacific Island nations, young Micronesian mother Yolanda Joab, sheds light on her the fight to save her nation from rising seas. She expressed that 'If people say technology and so-called progress have put us in this hole that we see now with climate change, then I’m sure it can pull us back out.' Yolanda was introduced by lead singer of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson.
Yolanda spoke in the Environment Plenary Session, which addressed the question, 'Can technology save the planet?'
This session took place at the 2016 One Young World Summit, the world's premier forum for young leaders, in Ottawa, Canada. The Summit brought together 1,300 delegates from all 196 UN-recognised countries, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change.
