If a rich privileged white guy cant get through to that sociopathic malignant narcissist he wouldnt listen to a child. the best resction you could hope for from trump was him thinking she is cute and saying something appalling like "in 7 years thats gonna be my girlfriend". wouldnt be the first time he said that about a child her age. smdh

Yes but it also happens on the other side of the aisle. A few weeks ago a California Congressmen proclaimed that because of Moore’s Law we can achieve 100% solar in 15 years in the USA. Unfortunately it appears that the Senator doesn’t understand what Moore’s Law is, as: 1. Moore’s Law applies only to semiconductors in very specific circumstances 2. Moore’s Law is not an actual scientific law- it’s a historical trend 3. Moore’s Law is unlikely to remain true through the rest of this decade.

SHEISTER CAM She identifies the problem, great we’ve known about the problem for literally 50+ years. Time to find a solution. Ironically her own speech illustrates an issue she discussed about worrying about grand gestures with no action. Her entire speech nor any of her speeches have ever identified a single scientific proposal on energy transitions. Instead of actually research scientific solutions she has demanded that politicians come up with a solution, even though historically politicians have never done this. The Montreal Protocol was not created because politicians got in a room and determined the best case solution. They consulted with scientists who gave them data for what is necessary and then and only then did politicians get to together agree with the scientific proposal and proceed with the solution. Why on earth are we expecting politicians to come up with an answer, when they have historically never done so and to be frank are really not qualified to come up with a legitimate solution. Why does she never reference scientific studies on actual solutions? This is part of the problem with things like the GND. That’s a politicians plan, and it is NOT in agreement with really any scientific study published to date. ZERO scientific studies on energy transitions support a full scale energy transition in 10 years- you know why? Because the timeframe is not feasible based on historical and maximum theoretical installation rates, manufacturing capacity, sustainable innovation, technological readiness, barriers to entry etc.

A problem is science is not aligned on one conclusion. There are different claims and You may have to study yourself to make up your mind about what you prefer to believe is the proper picture. Greta is dead sure the IPCC has it right and is betting everything she has on it. A wise strategy is to study every school of thought and not just uncritically believe that there is an overarching set of *facts* regarding climate change that science is united around.

We need Apollo moon shot program levels of effort to make a difference and remake the future. This is not to say it’s too big, it’s to say we have done it before to great benefit. Remember that program revolutionized our economy and is STILL responsible for new jobs thanks to the problems it solved with new technologies. A Green Save Humanity program would ensure jobs in the areas that need change while moving funds out of long term storage of the super rich people and companies to reinvest in a future for us all where we have a solid environment with an improved set of economies that benefit us all.

Drew Stevenson You do realize that the Apollo program was extremely risk to such an extent that if that program was attempted today we likely would’ve canceled many of the launches. The astronauts back then weren’t even engineers or scientists, their official job title according to NASA was literally test pilot. Furthermore comparing the space race to a continental energy transition is unbelievably naive, and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding many of the challenges facing multiple industries for change. Should we pursue an energy transition? Yes, but it would be incredibly reckless to pursue a transition in a similar fashion as the space race and likely would not be possible with our existing regulations.

In my region, the lobster and seafood industry used to be huge. Now many species of fish are moving further north because the water is too warm for them. Even if you don't believe in climate change, you should still understand that being environmentally conscious is important regardless. We have to be more responsible with our energy sources, how we dispose of waste, and examine legislation. We know that large-scale exposure to the burning of coal can cause breathing problems. We know that our current system is not adapted to handle all of our waste production, which is why several Western nations shipped waste to Southeast Asian nations. And so on. At the time the bigger threat was the limit to growth, population and consumption bumping up against a limit between 2020 and 2050??? Climate change was more like 2100. All that has changed this last decade has sealed the deal. We are consuming at an alarming unsustainable rate but the burning of fossil fuels is the biggest threat to the world today. Even if we stop today it may keep getting worse, the ice keep melting, the globe keep warming , and the weather continue to become more destructive. We are no where near stopping. Hard to imagine what the world will be like by 2030.

Dorothy Gene you dare to scoff at such a future? An ignorant response as it lies, without doubt, just beyond the horizon. The Anthropocene has damaged the world irreparably for humans. Even with current technology, we are doomed. There is nothing to be done to save us. Positive feedbacks are already in effect, dangerous ones - consider pockets of poisonous gas that will warm the earth even more that lies under the Arctic; the arctic will be ice free in five years. If we are lucky. What will the dark ocean beneath the ancient reflective ice do with all of the suns energy? I wonder and hope it doesn’t warm the ocean more. That’s not even considering the gases underneath the permafrost in Alaska, Russia, or the ANTARCTIC - and each of these places are all melting at an “alarming” rate. Not to mention the breakup of the jet stream, the inevitable dying of the ocean and it’s acidification, and the increase of extreme weather events - 500 year storms happening every year as has been the case, wildfires and droughts, flood rains and heatwaves that will cook you from the inside out because your sweat will do nothing to cool your body when the weather outside is an oven. did you know we almost got hit by a giant meteor the other day? But, carry on. Deny deny deny and live and love while you can, like I said. It’s all we can do now.

It is said that our climate is getting warmer, OK, but we're coming out of an ice age, so isn't the climate SUPPOSED to get warmer? And then they say that the climate getting warmer is due to man's activity on earth, but I have heard scientists say that climate change is directly related to cycles of the sun. So, WHO is right? I agree that we need to be good stewards of what God has given to us, for that is the task of man, but we are also commanded to "fill the earth and subdue it," and that cannot happen if people are freezing to death because you won't let them burn oil furnaces.
