I don't think I've seen this version of the trailer before, at least one using Wagner's music to accompany it. The very effective one that I saw in the cinemas had Mozart's "Requiem" married to the action. As for the movie, it was an awesomely fun big-screen experience, with the first "Jurassic Park" released just two weeks later. The best part of the 1993 summer movie season!

There's another movie trailer for Cliffhanger (1993), the one with Mozart's "Requiem" music as seen in the VHS releases of Wind (1992) and Candyman (1992), both from TriStar Pictures. I would like to see it in 35mm Scope in 4K.

This is the best action movie ever from TriStar Pictures and there's another theatrical trailer for Cliffhanger (1993) in 35mm Scope in 4K.

1:31 The TriStar print logo font is pretty similar to what's used today. They should have kept it (it's more fitting than the font they went with (as it's better associated with the 80s logo)

Literally watched the 4K of Cliffhanger last night! What's the odds!? It's held up beautifully as an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. Dated in some ways, but I still think it's Sly's best action movie. I will say too, looking at this, the Sony UHD is pretty spot on 35mm transfer. Glad that I dodged the Studio Canal pressing which has been butchered with DNR and weird color timing.

Reportedly the long-in-development sequel is shooting this summer. Talk about going back to the well. The story is supposed to focus on Sly's character's daughter while he's in the middle of a hostage situation. I wish them luck, but that's a steep mountain to climb. (sorry not sorry)

Sony UHD is the one with DNR. Studio Canal is the one with warmer color timing, meaning snow is not pure white. But watching this trailer I'm not sure now, which UHD is more proper color wise.

The only Carolco film owned by Sony

I Use To Have VHS 2000 Reprint I Got Rid Of It I Might Getting Back In My Collection 1993 pressing

Out of all of the movies produced by Carolco, this is the *ONLY* movie of theirs that Sony retained ownership of. Probably because Carolco was in serious debt at the time and they let TriStar fund most of the movie's production. In the end, Cliffhanger was a box-office success for Sony, and as a consequence, Carolco barely earned any money off it. Whether StudioCanal will co-produce a potential sequel with Sony or not is debatable.

"Showgirls" was also produced by Carolco, but MGM also retained its ownership, even though the movie was a critical and commercial failure.
