This song always reminds me of the long year I waited for my soldier hubby to get home from Vietnam! He is still home with me…this year we celebrate 58 years together! 🇺🇸❤️

My Dad died before I was born 😪 My Mum was just pregnant with me, although she didn't know it then. This song roused something within me, I guess a need, an inexplicable loss, something deep down, but this song used to make me cry so much as a child. 😪😪😪 Yet at the same time I loved it and it comforted me. ❤

I still remember whenever I heard nanny said “who is that? Is that your daddy?” I will ran to a front door and ran to you. You always hold me into you arms and I was so happy ever. But now you’re gone to heaven and I miss you so much dad.

My dad used to play this song for me when I was about 4 or 5. I always looked forward to dad coming home from work. Me and my little brother would take off his boots when he came home from work. It was our daily ritual and we loved it! My dad is very sick and in hospice care. I wish I could go back in time. 😢

I can still hear the sound of the tires in the gravel at the end of our driveway when my Dad turned into it after work. Other cars coming and going made the same noise but his was distinctive even when I grew up and moved into my own home, the sound of him coming over with the tires in my own driveway were the same; I knew it was him. He died in his sleep and never woke up on Fathers Day in 2011. He was not sick but he didn’t feel well that night. He had just retired the September before and didn’t enjoy one year of it. It pains me to think of him alone that night. I am missing him fiercely today. This song came up and I never heard this man sing it before today. As someone who came of age in the 1980’s, this version brought me to tears and I had to sit down. I wish I could hear the sound of his tires coming home again. I am always missing that sound. It gave a feeling of comfort and safety that is just gone now. For anyone missing their Dad; HUGS and prayers for your comfort from me.

Many years ago I worked in Berlin Germany for weeks at a time and my youngest daughter, Kym would put it on when I retuned home, still brings back beautiful memories for me. Thank you Cliff and my lovely Kym. I wonder if she remembers those days today as I have lived in Canada for 20 years, and see her once a year.x.

I remember hearing this song all the time on the radio when it came out in early 1982. I wish that I had caught the music video back then. Oh, well. I get to see it here on KZread. So glad that I found it.

The grit in Cliff's voice here is something he should have employed more often. Good version.

You know how you can tell the mankind's a mess? When Lady Gaga and similar "sex-artists" (despite being a translator, I don't have suitably rude vocabulary to even start describing her attitude and music) get hundreds of millions of views in a year, while quality beautiful stuff like this doesn't even have 100,000 hits in 3.5 years. I am hugely disappointed by most people. Then again, it makes special people even more special. Cliff Richard is a friggin' king. E.g. Suddenly is just ultra cool, like many of his songs and covers/duets. Respect

Watched this MTV played by my dad from the "Cliff Richard video tape" and from the CD since kid from the late 80's to early 90's. At 2020 I'm a father of one now, great song!
