Client Side Searches With Stimulus Javascript | Ruby on Rails 7 Tutorial (Fix JS.ERB Problems)

Just a quick one to talk about how to use Stimulus to do what I get asked about a lot. Tons of old js.erb solutions that don't work anymore in older ruby on rails versions.

This is another one of those videos that I'm making mostly so I can link it to people when they ask for help lol. Unrelated, but I think my GPU might be sagging. Had a bunch of blackscreens happen while a guy was picking up a dumpster outside. Kinda weird.

Neat idea, this is a good example of when you want to sprinkle some javascript over you website!

JS management before Stimulus was a real "pain". I do think that Stimulus is solving this problem in a very nice way. On top of that it integrates pretty well with Turbo:streams too.

Stimulus is an incredible piece of "technology". Once you understand how to make it work in a generic way, it brings true "tool reuse" vs what was promised by React and the likes. One of my favourite feature is that you can have a single element trigger multiple actions across multiple Stimulus controller. Something that isnt possible using other tooling.
