Clever Humpback Whale Pops Up for a Snack

↠Have you seen how killer whales are changing the Arctic: • How Killer Whales are ...
Getting hungry can be a problem, especially for a creature the size of a humpback whale. 🐋Fortunately, these marine mammals are also incredibly intelligent and adept at learning new foraging techniques. Follow marine biologist and filmmaker Rick Rosenthal as he captures a lone humpback engaging in extraordinary behavior: turning a salmon hatchery into a quick and filling meal, albeit one worth a staggering $13 million! 💰 But what’s good news for a whale spells disaster for the fish, not to mention the hatchery owner . . .

The narrator suggesting that what would happen next will surprise everyone had me in tears! We all would've guessed that she'll eat the baby salmon. Here's an idea, instead of just opening up one side of the net try replacing that side with netting that a small salmon could swim through but idk... a mother f'in humpback whale can't!

What are his alternatives? Let's say he tries to built dome sort of steal fence or gate along the perimeter of the pens; the whale then hits them, possibly injuring itself (massive EPA fines) and possibly damages the pen ($10,000s to $100,000s of repairs to the facility). Maybe placing concrete pilings at 6 foot intervals along the mouth of the inlet; thousands of pages of paperwork, months of bureaucratic haranguing, tens of thousands of dollars in process fees, lawyer billable hours, court fees, and even if it gets approved, if the whale hits them and is injured...massive EPA fines. The guy is fucking boned, no matter how you slice it.

Orca whales have been known to cooperate with humans to hunt whales. Humans respond by giving the Orcas the tongue of the caught whale - that's the deal.

@@gortnewton4765 They need a new contract--that is not a big enough cut. (JK) I think whales are too smart to be hunted for food. We can eat the smaller ones instead. They are so gentle with us when we are in boats. They could kill us with one flip of their tail and they don't do it. We should be kind to them imo.
