    When I put the hole in my trailer roof I ran into a stud and wires for the light lol. What a pain. I know all about your northwest climate. I came from southwest British Columbia. The Fraser Valley near Vancouver. You may know it. Long wet falls and winters. Now I'm in northwest Alberta. Long terribly cold winters. -20c to -40c is normal and lots of snow. I'd rather the rain lol.

    Oh dang, that is a pain! Yes we'd def take the mild wet winters over that minus ones. At least here if you want snow you can just drive up the mountain and enjoy it!

    @@AllisonandJamesSailing I live in Norway, during the winter months I have been docked right outside my off grid boathouse, that's where I keep the wood. Due to cutting my own wood and letting it dry properly this is the current solution I have. From March to late October I like to sail around the area, I might bring wood for 2-3 weeks if it's cold and then I resupply. I also have a diesel heater that heats water, this water circulate in the hot water tank and a radiator. The diesel heater is mainly for backup and to heat water for shower and washing machine. This is my first year living off grid, and I try to find better solutions as I go. But I try to keep it cheap and simple. The boat is 36 years old, and my greatest issue during winter is the humidity. I plan on isolating more of the hull. due to lack of sun for the solar panels during winter, I have to charge batteries with a portable generator to keep up with the power consumption of my small dehumidifier. I might look into wind generators at some point.

    Oh your new stove is so cozy! 🔥☺️ Hope it keeps the indoor condensation to a minimum.... I'm curious, can you move the trailer to another site with the stovepipe sticking out of the top? I know you've built out your trailer with the intent of keeping it in one place (not going camping every weekend)...

    Thanks for the video! It helped me with my install. One quick question for you. Have you noticed heat being transferred through where you bolted the legs down? Had that caused any issues for you?

  • @AllisonandJamesSailing

    @AllisonandJamesSailing

    We haven’t noticed any significant heat transfer through the legs and down into the tiled surround over the last 2yrs. The tile does an excellent job of reflecting heat back upwards for our install. Thanks for checking out our video and best of luck with your install!

    Is it okay to install it with tile/cement board and no air gap between the cement board/plywood wall?

  • @FullSunshineDreams

    @FullSunshineDreams

    Жыл бұрын

    additional question: are you able to tell how much heat is transferring to the wood beneath, if at all? (can you feel it with your hand on the inside of the cupboard?)

  • @AllisonandJamesSailing

    @AllisonandJamesSailing

    Жыл бұрын

    We have a large air gab behind the plywood wall and even after running the stove for 12hrs there isn’t too much heat transfer through the tile/cement board. Most of the heat is reflected from off the tile and with such a small stove it rarely stays consistently lit for more than a few hours at a time.
