Clementon Park Jack Rabbit recreation - NoLimits 2

Jack Rabbit was a junior wooden roller coaster designed by John Miller. It operated at Clementon Park in New Jersey from 1919-2002. It was in need of a rebuild, which the park considered too expensive, so it stood but did not operate from 2003 until 2007, when it was torn down. It was one of the oldest coasters in the world, the last operating coaster to open in 1919, and the last Miller coaster without upstops.

    Nice! Shame it’s gone. Even it if wasn’t that extreme, it was still a good historical ride worth preserving.

    Nice job as usual. I rode this coaster. It was pretty basic, but still fun. And awfully nice to be able to ride it again virtually, thanks to you. Plus, when I ride your re-creations, I don't have to wait in line!! Thanks for providing job to coaster fans who didn't get the chance to ride some of these. We need all the positivity we can get when all we seem to hear about is bad news. Good work!

    A ride that would be cool for you to recreate is the cyclone at Williams grove, it had a pretty interesting layout

    I've considered that. The return run on that thing looked wild.

    I mean technically that ride still exists. I'd like to see it refurbished. I could see it successful if Hershey bought it and operated it as a sister park with 5pm-1am hours, sort of making it to Hershey like what the Fun Spot parks are to the bigger Florida parks.

    Better than the one at kennywood...even if it is a bit janky..

    This is an amazing recreation. I just discovered your channel searching for the Jack Rabbit. Are your track packages available for download ? I have an older copy of "Clementon lake Jack Rabbit.nltrack" from another fan site. It is a nice recreation; however, I do believe your copy to now be the best available.

    Did this ride have upstops later on, or was it a different type of track that functioned like a side friction coaster?

  • @RaptorAlex

    @RaptorAlex

    I believe that is correct. I think it started as a side friction but later got upstops.

    @@RaptorAlex I'm guessing that it was common for parks to do those conversions to their 1910s coasters.

    @@Mattman0627 jack rabbit never had upstops. if it did had upstops, they wouldve prevented the derailment crash. jack rabbit was grandfathered to allow operation without them. the insurance company basically forced clementon park to shut it down 4 years after the incident because the coaster kept jumping the skid brakes (even though this wasnt the reason why it crashed). it was going to cost clementon too much money to update it.

    @@AntS1992 Yeah I found out about that later on, I don't know much of this coaster's history but it's interesting to read about and it is unfortunate that it got demolished.

    I mean I love Gene Staples but he's got to get his Schwarchkofp coasters open before he can start doing that. However if he wants to be that ambitious, would be cool to see him relocate Nightmare from Witcheta's Joyland. I mean it's just the station and trains at this point so it would be nice to see that saved so another historic coaster could be rebuilt.
