    I was about to comment / joke about how you're pointing out the irony of Canada having regulations revolving around car seat safety. But, then you mentioned it. Well done! It's crazy to think that there are no regulations. Likewise with baby formula. Why are manufacturers allowed to create baby formula that contains corn syrup and non-organic ingredients?! Anyway, well done on this vid!

    thanks for your video, i have purchased the clek Foonf. I have a silly question i have to place the car seat completely level while rare facing, correct? what i meant is there shouldn't be any space between the bottom of the clek car seat and my car seat. also i am not able to adjust the car seat recline position after installing the anti-rebound bar, i am not sure if i did anything incorrectly.

    Hey there! I would personally reach out to Clek directly for installation help. They are super nice people and they even have an option for video support so you can show them what is going on with your seat and help you. I love that you are reaching out to make sure but I just think they are the experts so this is where you can contact them for help. clekinc.com/pages/support Congrats on the new seat I know that once you are sure it is installed correctly you will LOVE it :)

    Thank you so much for sharing this it was SO HELPFUL! I DO have a question though. Could you tell me a bit more about what it's like to clean this seat and what makes the fabric different. The fact that it (seemingly) can't be washed is one of the few points against it.

    For rear facing, is a seat belt or latch install more preferred and why?

  • @destinationbabykids

    For this car seat either method (belt OR latch) in rear facing mode can achieve a very tight installation. Why I generally prefer to personally use seatbelts is they are tested to a higher weight capacity and car seats have weight cut off points for LATCH installation. I like to install one time and not have to worry about changing my installation method later on so that is why I generally attempt with seat belts first. But again it is always vehicle/child/care giver dependent. Great question tho!

    Does this seat have recline options for rear facing/forward facing?

  • @destinationbabykids

    @destinationbabykids

    Yes I probably didn't go over that well in the video. there is a deep recline position for smaller babies, and a more upright reclined position for rear facing. For forward facing there is upright or slightly reclined. But yes two positions for each direction. Great question and sorry I missed that :)

    Also, how do you think this compares with Diono Radian 3QXT ?

  • @destinationbabykids

    @destinationbabykids

    Clek has a much better belt lock off system in both forward and rear facing. Both are narrow seats but Dionos focus is being an all in one where as clek is striving for the safest possible seat in specific uses. Additionally Clek is the only seat in the US currently to use rigid latch in forward facing. There is one other seat in America that does this however that seat is a convertible seat with a base so the seats are probably not comparable in every respect. That seat will be addressed in a video I make next week. Clek has more safety features and offers more in depth information on the crash testing they use. I also think Clek uses better quality fabrics and has a focus on green parenting more than 99% of companies that claim to care. Clek is one of the most transparent companies I have ever dealt with and the owners of the company are really sharp and care a great deal about what they offer. Diono is good too but I wouldn't put it on the same level as Clek.

    So it can fit well. It tends to be a bit longer nose to tail than some other convertible seats but they do have a chart with all the seat dimensions so you could use that and measure in your car for some idea of how it might fit. Nose to tail it is 33 inches long. If you go to cleks website and click on the seat you want and scroll down they have images of it frontal and side with every dimension so that should be useful for ya.

    You could look at brands that offer products in the US and in Europe simultaneously. Britax and Cybex are both great examples of companies that make car seats that are super safe but the European versions are wildly different than the ones they offer in the US.

    Hello and thank you so much for your video! We are planning to purchase two of the Foonf car seats for our new minivan. I have three questions: 1. We have a 2023 Toyota Sienna with captain seats in the 2nd row where we'd plan to install the car seats. Do you foresee any issues with installing the Foonf seats there? 2. There is an insane amount of room between the 1st and 2nd row in the Sienna. Is there a location/position that is safest for the captain chairs with our 2 rear-facing kiddos? ie Should the seats be moved the way back, in the middle, or as close to the 1st row (without touching 1st row seats) as possible? We don't plan to use the 3rd row, so no need for access. 3. Can you provide details about the safety of the different Foonf fabrics? We are torn here. We would like to avoid chemicals, but we also don't want our carseats to be flammable. It seems Clek offers 3 different fabric options - Essentials, Performance, & Premium. Are all equally safe? THANK YOU! 🙂

    Hi there great questions. So for your most "natural" fabric choices I always suggest the wool options. The Mammoth or Winter mammoth are great because they are inherently flame retardant and incredibly comfortable. the initial run had pilling but they have reworked the material where that doesn't seem to happen anymore so that is a great improvement over the initial introduction of that fabric. I think your car is going to be a really good fit with these seats I do not foresee any issues. If you can scoot the seats back as far as possible I think that is ideal because then your front seats can also remain pushed away from the dashboards and airbags. So I would put those captains chairs pushed back toward the 3rd row esp if you don't intend on using it. Also just FYI all car seats by law have to be flame retardant but wool is the only way to really have a material that is inherently flame retardant without the addition of other chemicals. So while their other flame retardants in the non wool are safer than many other brands, it still would be ideal probably to go with wool. Also wool wicks moisture away from the child's body and will counterintuitively keep them cooler than most other fabric choices.
