Next time it rains this much take pictures of where all the water sits. If you have a drone or can borrow one go up and take pictures. It can be a huge help when planning future drainage

YES ! YES ! YES !!! I LOVE the clearing land videos !!! Reminds me of back when my dad would say, boys, I want this fence row clean by the time I get home from work. My brother and I would work like dogs cleaning it up. I hated it back then, but, It is so satisfying, when you finish ! Thanks for the video ! Made my evening ! ..... we had to do it by hand.

The English put hedgerows between their trees and along fields for a reason. It helps slow down the wind (helps with soil erosion and the roots soak up water), provides cover for small animals and pollinators (absolutely necessary on a farm), and for privacy. You could plant a hedgerow on the opposite side of the trees from the road, so it wouldn’t affect your cars.

The Dust Bowl was the result of a period of severe dust storms that greatly damaged the ecology and agriculture of the America. That's when farmers learned to plant trees and bushes. The more open, the more wind damage.

Osage Orange Hedges were planted so close to each other, only Rabbits & like size animals could penetrate it. No worry about livestock getting out. Also made great fence posts & best btu firewood & the thorns were numerous, sharp & long.

On your pole saw, it’s the connection where it screws together. Ours did the same thing and once we tightened that it worked fine.

In Germany a hedge with lots of small trees is called a "knick". Good for wildlife and keeping the wind from blowing across the field. In East Germany they have huge fields, and to work them with the big machines these days, they remove the hedges between fields. One year a sandstorm caused a pile up of 85 cars on the Autobahn, killing 8. Personally, I would have kept the hedge.

Lots of clean up to do, but the Oaks dont drop all their leaves until the holidays when I am too busy to work on the mess...I turned the chickens into the garden after checking the hoop beds were closed good. Hope this weather comes back after the next storm!!!

Looking good, Evan! Our place seems secluded from the neighbors in the summer but when the leaves fall, we can see through the trees and underbrush. The critters don't really care if they have power other than their water freezing. We may have another cold front coming, but in another month or so we should be past any really cold weather. I applaud your work ethic, but it would surely be a good thing to go to church with Rebekah. It isn't all that much to give to the Lord. He's given us everything.

  • @thaddeustroyer

Hey Evan, just a thought, you might want to install a couple plugs in your barn that are connected to your solar back up system and when you do that, plug your paint booth into that plug. I can see you losing power in the middle of painting and your paint booth collapsing on you and your freshly painted items. Doing this will also give you an option of running select tools while the power is out. Farms gotta farm, with or without power from the power companies and since you have options now, might as well take advantage of it. Y'all are doing great work and the fence row is looking good so far and will look great this spring.

That's a rather exotic experience in my part of Northern Norway these days, it's been 30 years since the last powerout that lasted more than two hours. The infrastructure is quite robust and there are always people ready to go. Even during force 10 gales with snow if a tree falls on a line up in some remote mountain side they'll be up there in no time and blast it with dynamite. It's almost sad, I like being without power, because then I get to use some of my prepper stuff. As long as the freezers don't thaw, that is. Of course I have many big bags of salt for such occasions, but I'd rather not.

Paul, Ever since I started watching your videos over several years, you do wonderful jobs of "plowing even in the worst of snow storm and you have experience and you know what to do about it, ok? But I have one question.....how come you waited till the storm pass before you start plowing, it could've been at lot easier in the end if you plowed it half way thru the storm eventho it would've taken more fuel? In the long run, it would have been a lot easier on you! Just saying.....keep up the good work!😉
