What an unappreciative prick.
Had a driver pass me with oversize load, two chains were dragging on passenger side, one of the rear duals was blown out and nothing left but the rim, rear oversize load sign was hanging on for dear life with a bungee cord and flopping in the wind like a wet noodle. Not 5 minutes later, and not more than 5 or 6 miles down the road, I got stopped for having a tail light out. Which was working just 2 hours before I got stopped. Sometimes it's just not your day no matter what you do or how careful and diligent you are.

I’ve seen cops, ESPECIALLY state “cops” blow by rigs like you described just to get someone with a headlight or taillight out. I guess they figure rigs like that would be too much work. A lot of regular state “cops” know nothing about rules for big trucks. Drove for a guy who got pulled over by a state “cop” and the cop was giving him a hard time about not having his front axle down on his tri axle dump trailer while hauling a load of fly ash. Boss was telling him he was way below axle weight so he didn’t need it down. Finally he had dot come, dot looked at the load and told my boss to go on his way, didn’t even way him. Boss took off looked in his mirror and saw dot pointing his finger and going up one side and down the other on that state “cop”.

@@mikehunt3222 Some states have strict rules about not being involved with D.O.T. situations, but a safety violation that bad, the officer should have radioed D.O.T., pulled the driver over, and waited for D.O.T. Public safety is still their primary function. I do agree that sometimes that's just how things roll.🤷

Know what you mean. I bought a brand new IHC in 1980, left out the same day on a temp registration, got 40 miles out of town to the first scale. No visible tag on the front so I got pulled around back for a full inspection. Brand new truck, 1 year old trailer, nothing to find wrong EXCEPT I got written up for no bedding in the sleeper! There was the mattress still in plastic but no bedding! If they want to get you on something, they will even if they have to make up an infraction.

@@Watchyn_Yarwood That is an unfortunate reality sometimes. Back in 89 when I worked for Kenworth, I would in-service the new trucks and get them D.O.T. certified. One certain officer would pull that type of nonsense until I went in with the owner of the dealership and head of D.O.T. for our area. They were just "observers for training" until the officer pulled the same citation at which time he no longer worked for D.O.T. It's too bad some people don't have anything better to do than cause unnecessary problems for others.

I really enjoy watching your auction videos! Thank you for post and sharing your knowledge
You are one of the safest and most professional guys/companies I've ever seen. I've watched you tie down many a piece of equipment and I am always impressed with your knowledge of chain sizing and tie down points. I love that you ask the men to wear safety glasses in the shop as well. Keep it up and don't let "the man" get you down with his bureaucracies and bad attitude......maybe he's just unloved. Really like the backroad windshield time, I do miss riding around those Pennsylvania back roads.
You're a great example for safety. You educate and inspire me to be safer each time I watch
It's very enjoyable to watch and listen to someone that has lived it and loves it. Thank you! 👍
We really enjoy all your videos, especially your explanations of what is good/bad about an auction machine. Keep up those detailed explanations of what you do!
Simply clean Did a nice job on Chrome.
Great to see you & dad spending time out and about!!! I'd give ANYTHING for 5 more minutes with my dad!!! Just to hug his neck, thank him for everything, and to tell him I love him one more time... Enjoy EVERY minute Clint!!! They're gone WAYYYY too quick!!!
Watching your Pops test the equipment at the auctions is my favorite part of these videos.
Looks like a good haul of skid steer always cool to watch you go through the equipment prior to bidding..looking forward seeing you here in Florida making your rounds at the auctions. Appreciate you sharing your amazing adventures with us.😎🚜🛻😇🙏🇺🇸👍
The 825 brings back memories. The company that I retired from had 4 of them. I had a lot of hours running them. It is not my favorite machine to run. Good video

Thanks for the ride along Clint. It's always an adventure at some of these auctions. The things you see along the way and then you run into DP & MBTS. 😅
Auction videos are great, longer the better Clinton 😊
Nice video. I always hated to deal with different rules from States and Provinces. When I used to go to Alaska I dealt with four different hour of service regulations and lots of other things that could trip a guy up really quick. I’m glad I sold all my trucks and trailers and just have my 42’ motor home. I always make sure I give the one finger salute when going by the scales in that. 😂😂
Gotta love the dot guys. They will always find something if they choose to
Enjoyable video thanks Clint
I just painted the OD sign on my front bumper when I was hauling equipment & no one ver complained. The good old days!

You gotta admire a dreamer. In Australia we have the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (over 4.5 tonnes) Which administers one set of laws and five sets of regulations. We have 6 States and 2 territories. And you'd be right if you guessed that not all states and territories adopted them and those that did modified them. So good luck to you Americans with 50 states. You got no chance.
Love the auction walk around and inspections

It was most definitely a worll wind for you and your father. In the video, you looked tired. If you get caught on your phone, it is a heafty fine. I go hand free through my car. They need to standardize the with of your load across the states. Thank you for sharing! 👍
That load is tight no matter where you are Clint. Love to see you two work on those 330’s. (even if it’s just filter/fluids).
Another great video. Didn't that trooper know who he was messing with? Glad everything worked out well for you.
From England when you were pulling out of the dig with a loaded scraper the D7E would pull right down till it was popping smoke rings then you knew you had to stop and change down a cog.
Them drive tires are amazing. I get 3/10 mpg less compared to the last set I had but OMG the traction on ice and snow. And they last a long time.
I drove truck for yrs in Ohio and West Virginia , towards the end it got to the point I could just expect getting pulled over at least once a week , over weight , over width , tires not good enough , marker lights out and anything else they could think of . I work for the county now and try to be as safe as possible , its nice to just get in a truck and enjoy driving it instead of worrying about DOT .
I ran into the sign situation in the 90s in Louisiana. I was 8'8"" wide and permitted, way under gross, travelling from MCAS Yuma to MCAS Cherry Point. Had my wide load signs on and trucking along. I got pulled in at the first weigh station into LA on I-20 and was told I couldnt have wide load signs on and to put oversize load signs on. I dont know if he was messing with me hoping I didn't have them but I did. Like you, as soon as I got to the state line I had to change them back. Lousiana and California were the 2 states that messed with me the most but I always was legal, with the paperwork in order, no tickets, no accidents. Be safe.
Great video Clint Hope you have a prosperous year in 2024!!!!
That is one beautiful Peterbuilt truck Clint😊
Nice job as always Clinton.
one awesomly gorgeous truck, Clint!
I would agree with you on the sign thing what would it hurt just to leave it on like you said it's extra protection and making people aware that would be a good question for officer Hoover
Very nice trailer!
I think more is better ,when i drove CDL alway smooth sailing except when I'd drive a cement mixer the California highway patrol commercial enforcement team always pulled me over knowing when we do freeway work with 1 1/2 rock 5k mix were heavy i got couple verbal warning to tell batch plants stop over loading since I always had a new peterbuilt mixer or kept it spotless they liked it plus good attitude goes further
good to see what happens behind the workshop ...............
Enjoyed this video bro and even a cameo from the Derby twosome. Safe travels. Ken.
Auction videos are great
Ride was good! Thanks for sharing! 👌👍 “ seems you had a good buy” 😊
I don't know what it is about your auction videos but they are interesting! Thanks for doing them I really enjoy them!!!
Clint I think you do a great service letting other truck drivers know what's going on with the rules for different states. Makes no sense as you said for not having more safety devices like signs or flags, maybe it is a way to collect tickets for the state.
I enjoy watching your action videos thanks for sharing 👍👋🇨🇦

Well I guess you got guys on power trips wherever you go. That's what it sounds like to me. Didn't find nothing there. You're going to find something here. Great attitude eh? Just what you need when you're out in the road. Great video you and your dad. That's all you needed. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
I live in Ohio. It’s very frustrating with the amount of state highway patrol and rules they try to enforce. They are constantly out there just bothering people.
Like that trailer real cool ,great video
The sign situation you described is ridiculous! More signs if definitely better!
Few years ago, at a seminar for landscapers in Michigan, there was a class about dot rules and load tie down, the two motor carrier cops had two different interpretations of a few rules, and they thought that was fine

Great content.
Awesome rig.
I think I got most of Clint's little round up of his run in with the D.O.T. - interesting that The Land of the Free & Home of the Brave has this kind of crap too! In U.K. we have the Ministry of Transport as the authority for most things Transport but all the inspection stuff is left to the police and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency or as they used to be - Vehicle and Operator Services Agency. The best thing you can do to avoid their attention is disguise your rigg as European and try to look as Eastern as possible if actually stopped. Most of them and their police outriders are unmitigated Shower of Bastewards! I was once "requested" to pull in by a uniform jumping out in front of me quite suddenly with an upstretched arm. About eight guys then descended on my lightweight tipper - determined to find "something". One neat trick was to put an eight foot pry bar across the jacked up front wheels and have their biggest guy jump up and down of it while another one footed the brakes. As my wheel rotated about an inch - "that's a nick" they cried and booked me! It was plainly obvious that this was all they had waited for before knocking off. Many blokes so booked would've just put it down to experience and paid - but that ain't me! I answered a summons to Magistrates Court ( for those who don't know the system - these places are quite biased in favour of the Plaintiff - the Police - you are certainly not innocent until proven - no, no, quite the opposite! Three Magistrates usually sit - they are members of the local great & good who volunteer and are schooled in Law by a Clerk of the Court ( usually an insufferable brown nose!) No one would have recognised the event I've just described from the "evidence" produced against me and even I was 50 / 50 whether it was a good idea to cause a fuss. Me being me - I went for the big fat slob who'd been pry bar bouncing - ( oh by the way - if you appear in person over here, no attorney - you're allowed a bit more leeway and of course you can do your own cross examination - while they have to answer. No policeman feels comfortable doing this - especially if they've lied. I asked him how much he weighed - 18stone, I then asked when was the last time he'd done a police fitness test, had he ever been left behind gasping by escaping criminals. Growing a brighter red by the minute - I then asked him why he thought himself proficient to test my vehicle - to which he smugly trotted out 16 years of experience and innumerable qualifications - but I smiled my best smile. Well, you must have examined many trucks like mine? Oh come on, come on - just a moment ago you were boasting of you prowess..... this went on for a while with him sweating ever more until I opened a case I'd brought to reveal a collection of brake shoes ( yes that long ago!) kindly pick out the type fitted to my truck. Though he stammered and protested - I'd also brought an expert to verify uniqueness that could be spotted from a distance for anyone who really knew brake parts. The case was thrown out - but instead of three points on my license and £100 fine, I lost most of a day at Court and hours preparing - but if it had cost me ten times as much - I'd have still done it.
Love the auction trips maybe you could do a video on what your looking for or listening for when you drive and or put a machine though a dance at the auction
That’s too bad and I’m sorry that you are that pissed off about that in Vermont. If you’re hauling something with a slow moving vehicle triangle, you can be pulled over and told to take it off. Also, the only time you’re supposed to have a slow moving vehicle triangle on your vehicle is if you’re driving it and it’s slow Video looking forward to see more of yours. Thanks for explaining what you explain. Looking forward to seeing your next video.

Used to sell stuff at swap meets in the Dayton Ohio area years ago. Troopers would swarm I-75 between Cincinnati and Dayton. One year I counted 120 cars. That’s a lot.
A few states require you to sign the permit to make it valid. I carry provision sheets for all the states i run through, some require the Provicion sheet be attached to the permit, not just in my folder to reference.
👍 I agree never did have any issues with that location.
As a retired truck driver I see you enjoyed your stay in Wilmington Ohio. That’s something that you can expect at that location. You are time ahead to go across I-70 and skip Wilmington completely , very little difference in mileage. Where was the other scale from your place?

Ohio just changed that couple years ago under 10' an under 90,000# under 90' if I remember right on length. I really like the inspection viedos. The chances of me buying a piece of equipment like that is very slim but its interesting
As you were saying you would explain later about the oversize signs, I made my guess as to what happened. And, yep, I was right.
My Dad had a D7E, four cylinder with turbo. It was a great logging cat, but had a habit of losing turbo's.
I worked for a bloke in 1971 that had 7E's and 7F's ,, working side by side pushing heavy timber there was very little difference if any between them ,, mind you at that time they were almost new,,
And nice trailer too!
Great video. Encore for the red ford cummins project.
In NC in the oversized handbook it says from 8’6” to 10’ you only need flags at the widest points and from 10’1” on you have to have wide load signs front and back and they have to be a certain size.
You have my sympathy on the trucking permits. All the horror stories I've heard come from Ohio, PA, and Illinois. Keep on truckin Buddy.
