Cleared Hot Episode 204 - Marcus and Amber Capone

Ойын-сауық

When he was medically retired after 13 years. and multiple combat deployments as a U.S. Navy SEAL, Marcus Capone and his wife, Amber, thought that life would return to normal. Instead, their struggle had just begun. Marcus was experiencing an escalating myriad of challenges, including depression, isolation, cognitive impairment, excessive alcohol use, headaches, insomnia, and impulsivity. Marcus was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but, instinctively, Amber felt there was more to be discovered. After learning about the effects of blast waves, concussive, and subconcussive brain injuries, everything started to become clear. Marcus’ military career as an explosives expert, combined with his prior years of contact sports, had left him with the invisible wounds of traumatic brain injury (TBI), a condition that has significant overlap with PTSD, and is often not properly diagnosed.
When all hope seemed lost, Amber learned about ibogaine, a plant-based psychedelic used traditionally in West African ceremonial settings that has been studied as a potential treatment for opioid addiction and other mental health conditions. Marcus traveled to a reputable independent clinic outside of the U.S. to receive treatment with Ibogaine, as well as 5-MeO-DMT, another naturally occurring psychedelic compound. Immediately after the sessions, Marcus felt a massive weight had been lifted, his cognitive functioning returned, he had no desire for alcohol, and he stopped taking all prescription medications.
Since 2019, the non-profit Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions (VETS) has provided grants for hundreds of U.S. Special Forces veterans to receive psychedelic-assisted therapy treatment outside the U.S., as well as preparation and integration coaching. VETS believes that psychedelic therapy can lay the foundation for further healing. This “foundational healing” enables continued progress across a range of therapeutic modalities, and is supported by a robust coaching program, providing a holistic treatment solution for veterans.

I would swap Jocko for Shawn there. Shawn has gotten almost far fetched with a couple of his guests. Seems like everyone else does their own thing. Shawn seems to be trying to follow Joe Rogan path of very random shit to discuss. Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on Shawn, he just seems like he has gotten away from the stuff that got him there. Rogan can pull off bringing on these dudes that seem to predict the future or some wild shit. Shawn seems to be reaching at times

My comment speaking towards how having unexpectedly come across DMT directly saved & changed my life for the better during a very bad time in my life many years ago when I was 17 got deleted. Pretty strange. May God bless you exponentially, Marcus & Amber. I would love to somehow help contribute towards the expansion of your cause & organization. I believe that these various treatments used properly can greatly benefit mankind. Especially for those who have served who truly deserve the peace & clarity that these treatments can bring. Sincerely, a 26 year old drug, alcohol, prescription & caffeine-free fit young man with a Navy DD214 who’s been through the ringer of mental-hellth before, & came out the other side…and has known others who didn’t.

I understand helping Vets but can we help men or women who grew up in rough households and are now addicts . I’m one of them. I’m thankful for all the guys and gals who are military and ex military but we also have an entire world of folks who aren’t and why can’t we (non-military) do something like this . It would save a boat load of lives and drop crime drastically in my opinion. Idk maybe I’m just fucking dumb. (Edit). To add to this….. traumatizing childhoods are just as or more damaging than war and it seems like those kids ( myself included) are considered outcast and pushed to homelessness or prison. Sure would be nice to see us come together to figure something out for us.

I appreciate all of you guys going online and speaking about everything. Especially every angle of everything. One thing I haven’t heard on your podcasts. You always talk about and ask your guests on what influence them to get into all types of SF teams, but hearing all of the good and fun experiences that you have had. As well as the aftermath of these experiences when you guys retire. The one question that I have, as a father of a son, who is interested in pursuing a career like you guys. Would there be any way the next time you have Marcus Capone or Mike Glover as a guest. Would you guys be able to ask each other on whether or not you would recommend your child or children to pursue the same career you chose? Again keep up the good work what you’re doing is very beneficial do you guys and many of your listeners whether they are a veteran or not!

The written introduction to this video incorrectly refers to grants for "Special Forces" as if VETS only provides grants for Green Berets. As correctly stated on the VETS website, the organization helps veterans, including special operations forces (SOF) of ALL branches. "Special Forces" is different than "special operations forces."

Andy hit the nail on the head, the amount of money being spent on just training has to be insane, the amount of man hours and effort has to be staggering. You can definitely find an open slot for letting guys decompress. The evolution of training and maintaining would keep the navy’s investment much longer and more capable in my opinion, I’m not a serviceman but I worked as a firefighter and I’ve seen the alcoholism first hand

Amber is such a beautiful woman, and she still looks 29….and there should never be a female SEAL unless she can do EXACTLY the same as men. The standards should never be changed or lowered.

Marcus is a rad dude! I have a feeling he is that NY SEAL that participated in the 2011 operation that other SEALs have mentioned. I can't imagine how intense that feeling would have been. Being from NY and being in the teams to help solve the problem that caused the whole mess.

And now imagine people were talking about how powerful and live changing these substances were half a century ago. But instead of using this knowledge for the betterment of society and people, we all agreed that it's best to stigmatize and criminalize anyone who argues in favor of these substances. Half a century. Imagine how many lives were taken because of these policies. Just imagine.

The military teaches you many skills but they are not about to plant a seed about post career opportunities, why would they? A. Because that would take your eye of team op ambitions and detract from success while in service. It is not in their interests to focus ahead of your final mission. In truth, after that, you're dead to them. Once you understand the brutal reality that you and only you can plan, execute and develop new life skills for your next phase of life beyond uniformed duty.

Let me just iterate one point that he makes. He's paid six figures for treatment and was on pharmaceuticals for 7 years. That was before his psychedelic treatment. After the treatment, he didn't touch any pharmaceuticals for 4 years. Still wonder why they tell you that people that promote the use of psychedelic substances are to be locked away? :) Always ask yourself who profits off of people's ignorance and fears.
