Clear Quartz: Real or Fake?

Ғылым және технология

We all know that quartz is one of the most common minerals in the Earths crust, so there really shouldn't be any reason to fake it. However when we talk about cut and polished clear quartz as points and spheres, that is when we can run into fakes.
In this video I describe and give tips on what I personally look out for when purchasing clear quartz crystals.
I hope you enjoy the video!

    When you were comparing the noises they make when tapping them together... Wouldn't tapping on the glass jar make a ting ting sound because of the thin glass and it being hollow? Like.. if you had a big thick chunk of glass sitting there and you tapped on it, would that also make a ting ting noise? I would have guessed no, I'd say it'd be a lot deeper sound

  • @emsastrogems

    @emsastrogems

    4 жыл бұрын

    This maybe due to light refraction. When light hits a transparent object on an angle, it causes the light to bend which then splits the light into its seven various colours. I imagine this is what is causing your rainbow effect. So if your pyramid has passed all the other quartz tests, then I would say it's real.

    Very useful, but I was surprised you only had polished and cut crystal points, and no real ones. The energy from a naturally formed crystal quartz is actually so much more vibrant than those artificially cut into a point. Probably because when they get a huge block of quartz, they do not mind in which direction they cut it into points. There is something very off with crystals like that. The way you can see if you got a real crystal point that Mother Earth grew like a point, or a crystal point cut by man into a point, is looking at the edges. In China where they manufacture these, they are in a hurry, so the edges will be all over the place. Secondly the edges are too sharp. Like on your video. While natural ones also are sharp, they are not that sharp. I hope you get hold of a real authentic crystal that has not been cut, polished, tumbled and feel the difference. It is quite remarkable!

    @@bellarosewood3862 hey bella in a matter of fact there are a few tests you can do to check if your quartz crystal is real , try scratching a glass window with your crystal if it doesn't scratch it's not real, second try seeing if u have any air bubbles in your crystal if so it means it's glass, third always ask the buyer the origin of the crystal he or she should tell u the source, sadly technology can replicate anything to almost make it look like it's real it's like a gamble you can only hope for a real crystal ❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨🌎🌎🌎

    @@olonzoammonsjr7042 thank you. will try. Although I already tried to scratch the crystals with a knife and they weren't scratched. But I still heard that they can be made in labs to be completely similar. So I guess I just hope they're real.

    You actually proved my quartz is real. But if those bubbles are about 0.4 to 0.2 mm small is it okay. Answer quickly please

    Thanks for your question. Bubbles inside glass will usually be very tiny and spherical, whereas clear quartz will not have any bubbles other than enhydros. Inclusions within clear quartz typically appear like lines, waves or cracks. I hope this helps.
