Clear Liquid Sculpey for FB

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You’ll have a blast exploring these fun projects! Start by checking your oven temp with an oven thermometer. I got mine at Walmart. They’re super affordable; and every clayer should have one. I preheat my oven to 325F for max clarity. (Check your piece every 5 minutes; so it doesn’t scorch.) The Sculpey molds shown are bakeable; but not all molds are. Be sure to begin by stirring your liquid clay until it’s a uniform consistency. You can stir it in the bottle or in a cup.
Cut pieces of Sculpey Souffle or Sculpey Premo to size and place them into the jewelry mold. Add your inclusions. Then cover in a thin layer of Sculpey Liquid Clear. For light colors, tent with foil. Place in preheated oven and check in 5 minutes.
When adding alcohol ink, start with a tiny drop, then increase ink to darken. For maximum clarity, bake the colored layer first, then add CLS and inclusions and bake again for 5 minutes or until clear.
Brush mica or gliiter into the molds before pouring the Sculpey
Liquid Clear for a delicate shimmer.
Trim pieces with cuticle scissors if needed.
For window clings, I use a piece of glass from an old picture frame. Place your image underneath the glass. Tape it down so it doesn’t slide around. Outline the image with Liquid Sculpey in any color you like. Then fill in with pre-mixed liquid clay colors or mix any color you can think of.
Most important of all, don’t forget to enjoy every minute. This is your fun time.

Ok, so I have a question: what's the difference between liquid sculpey clear, and liquid sculpey gloss glaze? I'm trying to make doll eyes and wanted to avoid using resin, but have no idea which one would be best or if I should use some other varnish. I've been researching all day and getting so confused with all the options.

I'm not sure that i like how they have it white at first. That's hard to mix pigments in when you cant really see how it will look until after you bake it, and the dumping it and stirring, is it only a1time ster or do we have to do that every time we're on another project? And i think someone said that it has a warning about not breathing in the fumes on the bottle?

Hi Teresa!! I am having some trouble with the liquid clear. I tried emailing on the Sculpey site, but no one answers. No matter how long I bake it, and several temperatures, it never solidifies. It just stays kind of gummy and sticky. I have tested my oven with a thermometer, the temp is correct. According to the directions, it gives a range of temps. I have tried all of them on separate samples for varying lengths of time, none seem to work. The highest temp I tried was 330 degrees Fahrenheit, for an hour. It isn't liquid anymore exactly, but if you touch it, it is really sticky and gummy and breaks apart like the fat crust on a bowl of liquid fat that has been allowed to sit awhile so you can skim off the fat. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would love to make a window cling like you made.

Although I have tried this product (yet), try stirring in the bottle with a popsicle stick. Stir for a full minute. This works very well for me when I'm working with paints.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I did that. The bottle had been sitting for a couple of months. I always stir them up and shake before using something that's been sitting untouched for awhile, no matter what the product is. But again, thanks for the suggestion. 😊
