I think people coming up with the word for people without tatoos aka cleanskins is the most woke thing ever heard off you'll need help. Could you imagine if people without tattas just referred to Guy as dirtskin's.

yeah, you're not going to look that great when you're 70+ anyways, tattoo or not. But really I think that's just a side justification they throw in there. When it comes down to it, it's all just social stigma. Some people grow up seeing tattoos as bad things bad people get. My parents are like that, and there's nothing you can say or do to change their mind.

Tattooing has become so mainstream that there's no shock value anymore unless you're tattooing your face or head. Also because it's mainstream, a lot of people see it as a fad or something everyone's doing because everyone else is doing it. That way they can say "Look, I'm not participating in this trend. I have restraint and common sense" when pointing to people (celebrities) with ridiculous tattoos. Usually when people make these arguments they are pointing to celebrities and bad tattoos. I've never seen anyone make this argument next to a full Japanese bodysuit lol.

There was a make-up company that recently got a lot of backlash for hastly creating a foundation for the deepest skin tones. The formulation included only black pigment - it didn't work for anyone. Pure black pigment isn't a skin tone.

The funny thing about the elitist "low class" view of tattoos is that they actually used to be very common among elites. Tsar Nicholas had a tattoo of a dragon he got while visiting Japan. King George V had tattoos. And now that tattoos are more socially acceptable, plenty of elites (Crown Prince of Denmark, Princess of Sweden) are getting tattoos again. Really all depends on what it looks like and what's the placement. Some tattoos will always be trashy, sure. But as you know, it's been around for thousands of years.

The ritualistic nature of tattoo, the transformation in appearance as well as getting through a difficult session by utilizing prayer, meditation, and breathwork this is the appealing nature of tattoos for me. It's also nice to have something im my skin that inspires me, or is aesthetically pleasing to me or that is covering up a patch of scars. Plus tattoos get me high, and as a straight edge person and former addict - its one of my acceptable vices left.🖤 🤙🏼 from 🏝️ Kirk

This is great. Love your comments. Just want to say, I'm a 62 year old, retired woman with a master's degree and 2 undergraduate degrees - and no criminal record. I've always been so intrigued by tattoos (honestly it started with some of my favorite rock and punk bands and some of their tattoos). I had a few, small, discreet (and not very good) tattoos when I was in my 30's. After my parents passed away (they would have LOST THEIR MINDS if they knew I was tattooed!!) and especially when I started working for myself (in my 50's), I started going a bit wild with tattoos. I have two sleeves - one is 2/3, the other is 3/4, my lower legs are almost completely covered (I just got a beautiful gap filler yesterday). I don't have any hand or neck tattoos - and probably never will - it's just not for me, but I don't judge others getting them (unless they're just bad! 😅). I plan on getting a back piece (almost the entire back) before I'm too old and my skin is just not in good shape for it - which means VERY soon! I now live in Portugal and found a wonderful neo-traditional artist right in the town I live in (Johnny Domus). I've gotten about 3 fairly large (whole shins, whole calfs) tattoos from him already and plan on getting more. I'm really not trying to brag, just saying that not all old(er) people are anti-tattoo or against body mods. I'm just fascinated by the art form and love the whole process of deciding (generally) what I want to get then working with my artist on tweaking the design (he makes my original ideas into something pretty great) and then getting the tattoo. I only really don't enjoy the healing part! Anyway, if anyone wants to see any of my tattoos, you can scroll through my IG @iloverescuecats (sorry, the IG account is kind of a mess of just my life in Portugal). Thanks Kirk, for your tattoo videos. I love them. These people on this panel need to worry about much more important things rather than whether or not people are getting ink in their skin. ❤

Idk why I'd post this here, but here is a context in which I think cultural appropriation is a valid criticism. It's simply when people use someone's culture to subjugate them. Like the British started printing a bunch of religious texts in India to make people more focused with their religion rather than British rule. Things like that I think are when cultural appropriation is a valid criticism.

For the cultural appropriation aspect, I don't think that these people understand what cultural appropriation is. Like let's say that I as a white woman got traditional Inuit tattoos on my face and then claimed it was my thing in the first place, or used them to give myself an "exotic vibe." Blacking your skin out, however foolish (skin cancer anyone??) isn't cultural appropriation.

I’ll be totally real- don’t hate I’m here in good faith.. I have 1 tattoo. I had the intention 15 years ago to get more but I didn’t. I am happy I didn’t. For ME. I don’t want to speak on everyone else but for me I always enjoyed standing out. When I used to see someone who had a bit of art I would admire and check it out. Now I don’t even give it a second glance. If I’m being totally Frank I enjoy novelty. When something becomes so common and saturated I can’t help but not be interested anymore. Again don’t hate I’m being totally open and honest in saying that FOR ME novelty and being different is fun. It’s not enough if your tattoos are different than the next person because the concept has become more pedestrian. But I still have a side of me that enjoys watching the work being done, special art, the creative process so I guess there is still some value in that way. AnywYs to each their own

Personally, I think it's genetic as to why people get tattooed. Humans have been doing it for such a long time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure one of the oldest humans we've found had 63 tattoos. I believe it was that frozen dude they found that dated back to the ice age. I could totally be wrong cause I'm trying to remember off the top of my head, but even Scandinavians were tattooing themselves back in the Viking era. It's just ridiculous how people still consider them taboo. Yet, I do get it that tattoos are kinda looked down upon in mutliple cultures due to gangs and all that crap. This world just sucks ass, man.

Nah people without tattoos have ONE opinion on them...they're not into them. Tattoo folks on the other hand have myriad opinions. Tattoo parlors are some of the pettiest cliqish maybe even toxic. Everyone is in competition with eachother even with their clients. The level of judgement and opinions are off the chart. Tattoos used to be badass. Now it's all just a rotten freak of a parody, hungry and tired from a battle nobody else is fighting in which it yearns for meaning, relevance and an illusory victory

'The likeness of God'- People have been getting tattooed for thousands of years, way before the conception of the Christian/Judeo God. The only reason the Bible/Torah has any mentions of marking ones body is to separate followers from the Pagan traditions of tattooing oneself in an act of mourning. My Gods are tattooed as hell.

I don't have any tattoos but if I did I'd like some Alex Gray type stuff as sleeves. I've done DMT a few times back in the day and it would be cool to be daily reminded of those trips.

People looked into videos, looked at machines, and everyone, ALL his staff said he was wrong, so he shopped lawyers to support him.
