Concorde was designed in the 60’s and for me is one of the words great engineering marvels...
Able to cruise at 1350mph (twice the speed of sound) one even managed to get from London to New York in just 2 hours 52 minutes and 59 seconds, a record still held today (for commercial airline). A lot of people of course still smoked in the 1960’s early 70’s and frankly travelling at that speed who’d blame them so each seat has an ashtray!
Its Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 engines had more thrust than even the mighty Pratt & Whitney J58 (SR-71 Blackbird) engine.
