Cleaning Hack for the Bissell LittleGreen Carpet Cleaner

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This is a hack for how to clean the dirty water tank on the Bissell little green carpet cleaning machine. These were not made so that you can open them and scrub them out. I assume the company didn’t think we would need to do that but if you forget to empty the tank it gets kind of scummy.

Ma’am. My tank has been disgusting for YEARS!!! Far nastier than yours. I’ve had no clue how to clean it. Tried so many different things. Your method worked far better than anything else I’ve tried. It’s not perfect but it’s much better. Thank you for your creativity and ingenuity.

Crushed ice and salt will accomplish this with little scratching.

That's funny, because that's how I was taught to clean a glass coffee pot when coffee was burned on (worked at McDonald's).. but I didn't think of it for this. Probably because the coffee pot cleaned easiest when it was still a little hot.

Although, I think for what I had in it, it would need a more harsh scrubber than salt and ice.

I was about to take pliers to mine. Glad to know it doesn't before I waste the effort. Its shocking it doesn't come out! I'm concerned there will be mold growth but there are great cleaning suggestions in here!

If you use a tiny flat head just to get in between the sides of the front to help pull it away from the main piece enough you can use it to move slowly down the sides and it will pop off. Idk why they didn't put a divot into it to help but hindsight I guess.

Vinegar and baking soda. White vinegar. It'll fizzle up and then when it's just shake it all around and when it's done put some hot water in it and shake it around some more.

There’s a tiny little “button” type thing. You push it in, try with a fork or something, then it slides off.

People think I'm a weirdo because I keep what I call my cleaning sand in my closet. it's my chemical free way of getting an abrasive in to spots I can't reach with a brush. My big problem is that no mater how much I vac first I get hair wrapped around the bottom in there. I hate that you can't take the guts out of the tank to clean it or at least let us take the bottom off .

@IKR drives me up the wall. How can you divise a tool for cleaning filthy dirty things and not be able to clean the tool itself. extreme lack of oversight. they did correct this in later models.

Tip. Let the water continue to fill the soapy container pushing out the suds. It's kore efficient than filling and dumping 5 times trying to getbthe soap out.
