For all those saying we live in a dirty house. This PS5 is run for 16+ hours a day, every day for 18 months to test how it lasts, and part of that was not cleaning it our to see if it would overheat, that's what we do on this channel, we test things. So when comparing this to your own PS5, take the hours it is used into account. I'm more than positive it would look no different no matter who's house it was in. We also have a second PS5 in the house which is exactly the same age and was used in a more normal way, and when that was taken apart to fit an SSD you can see that even with no prior cleaning and video being shot at the same time, that PS5 has hardly any dust. See for yourself kzread.info/dash/bejne/d21qlNmapJOwpdo.html So i hope that explains things for all those who are being abusive and rude and just shows why you shouldn't jump to conclusions and running your mouth off! With regards to removing the fan and also doing the dust catcher holes. the holes were vacuumed out, but not shown in the video and the vacuum is so powerful that i managed to get the dust off the fan without removing it. This was done by covering sections of the fan opening with my hand and putting the vacuum nozzle over the part i wasn't covering, making the suction super powerful. Why did i not show this in the short video? well i wanted to concentrate on satisfaction of removing the dust that you can see, not much fun in watching dust being removed that you can see properly.

You can take the fans out on these very easily, ive done it to mine and a friends and made them sound brand new. All you need is a Torx T8 screwdriver, a gentle hand and some patients whilst taking off the air vent fins as they can break easily. @Bloofa exactly. All the dust, animal hair, etc gets clogged at the front of the heatsink. I learned this back when i had to clean the heatsink on my ps4 pro, it started shutting off in thermal protection cuz it couldn't breathe. U could hear the air forcing its way thru the dust and heatsink, making a jet-like whistle. Cleaned it and it was quiet. Recently did my ps5 which is how i realized ps5 takes in more dust than anything I've ever seen and my room is clean WITH an air purifier in there. Still had dust starting to build up at the front of the heatsink on those slits the air passes through. Sony actually designed ps5 to be taken apart easy so thats the easy part, so is removing the fan. Hard part is reaching the heatsink to clean it lol!

Pro tip, put your PS5 in the horizontal position. The reason is in horizontal no dust gets in. If you look at a PS5 in horizontal, you see the white panels are like a roof around the top of the PS5 so that no dust gets in. When PS5 is in vertical you see how all the open areas are open for all the dust in your room to freely drop inside the PS5. So even though it will take up more space horizontally, its worth it to have it horizontal to keep as much dust as possible from getting inside. ✌️
@nimbydimby

It may be news to you but dust is airborne so it will just get sucked in anyway. Yes, you won't have that part of the dust that falls down and into the console but that's a minority.

Dumb comment sorry but it will always collect dust if it’s on as one fan needs or be sucking air in to cool it… just basic PC knowledge. My ps5 lives in the living room, high traffic area, near the front door. I have 2 air purifiers in the area, and it still gets dusty. Every time my dog shakes inside, dirt and hair go flying. The ps5 does get dirty. Thankfully, I dont have carpet and have a roomba that vacuums daily. The console in my gameroom doesn't get very dirty because it's not a high traffic area and the dog and cat don't go out there.

After 2 years you definitely are gonna need to fully disassemble the housing to clean the heat sinks. Within 3 years I’ve had to do this twice because of the power unit tripping/resetting and overheating/loud cracking sounds the second time. After cleaning both times the console was as quiet as a mouse and gave me and extra year+ of usage between maintenance. Plz show love to the heat sinks and not just the fan, you’d be surprised of how much dust is actually in there.

Recently did my ps5 which is how i realized ps5 takes in more dust than anything I've ever seen and my room is clean WITH an air purifier in there. Short but so satisfying
I try to give mine a clean every few months. I've probably done it about three times over the last year. I'm so glad Sony made it easier to clean, opening the PS4 was a massive chore
Dont forget to clean the lower heat duct vents underneath the fan, leaving that uncleaned will cause overheating bc of how the air passes through to that point.
Disclaimer alert, not sure Sony recommends hoovering, but looks cleaner!

Mines keep shutting off while I’m in mid game nd I think it’s because of the dust inside, I had it since 2020 and never cleaned in the inside 🤦🏾♂️
This is the path I’m taking! I see people remove the fan and every other part. I’m too nervous for that lol
I haven't cleaned my ps4 in 9 years 😳
Didn't know you could remove the sides. I need to do this soon lol
I heard that vacuuming electronics isn't great because of esd, is that true?

You have no right to be this satisfying 😤
Did mine today after 14 months and it was awful it lives on a shelf close to my ceiling so no suprise there. Didn’t take it apart as didn’t want to void warranty I just carefully hoovered the inside and wiped it down runs much cooler now 😁
Hey mate just seen this sony also put in two slots none disc side so can hoover more from inside.
Great idea my friend 👍
The accent made me think it was Korg from Thor movies 😂
Need to get that fan out and clean it properly my guy - that clean ain’t doing too much but is still a definite improvement

Uhm no you don’t it’s a ps5 not a pc from the 90’s 😂 you don’t need to clean consoles I have had my ps4 for 10 years never opened it once to clean it lol there engineered specifically so you don’t have to clean them. If you had to clean it it would say somewhere on the manual to prevent lawsuits

@@Sayin42 no offence but you clearly Have little to no idea what your talking about. You’ve cleaned plenty of ps5’s? What are me.clean for the the whole neighbourhood. Most people couldn’t even get one till a few months ago I seriously doubt you’ve cleaned a bunch of them. 😂 bro trust me I’ve built pcs my whole life. You don’t gotta clean the heat sink of a fucking ps5 your literally voiding your warranty doing that and risking frying your motherboard. 😂 there designed to be cleaned from the outside or at most after years of use opening the cover. Like he does in the video and using a can of computer compressed air duster not a fucking vacuum 😂 2nd) the fan sits right on top of the heat sink that’s the whole point of a compressed air can they have thin nozzles that allow you to get the hard to reach areas so you don’t gotta take apart your shit. You don’t think the engineers at Sony designed it in a way that can be cleaned effectively from the outside? Most console users never ever clean there shit and they run fine for years. Try doing that with a generic cheap case PC and your pc will be overheating in a couple years for sure. Just stop spreading misinformation man your risking some dumb kids fucking up there console.

Don't use a vacuum at all. It creates static and it can damage hardware. Just a bottle of compressed air will do fine
I did the same thing but the disk part was filld by dust
I got my ps5 day one and didn’t even know you could open it. Doing this today! Thanks.

This is so satisfying 😀
Lmao there are little tunnels inside you need to clean out too they get clogged just a PSA to take the fans out and compress air in as well
I don't even have one yet.. time to learn how to clean it once I get one
I just cleaned mine after about 15 months and mine had like no dust really at all
Not sure why consoles don’t just have a washable air filter that you can pull out like a central air filter. Just clean the filter and put it back in. No dust inside on your components or heat sink clogging anything.
Here's a tip: keep a good air purifier in your gaming space.
I think he’s been using his ps5 as a dust pan
My like makes it 2k , you forgot to clean rear side ( it will be most dusty !!)

It may be news to you but dust is airborne so it will just get sucked in anyway. Yes, you won't have that part of the dust that falls down and into the console but that's a minority.
@theageofminecraft1
Жыл бұрын
Dumb comment sorry but it will always collect dust if it’s on as one fan needs or be sucking air in to cool it… just basic PC knowledge. Also this was barely any dust the ps5 performance would not have been affected by that much dust.. I was suprised how little it was. My PC has had 20 times More dust and ran fine lmao
you can use the little holes on the sides (not the ones for the panels, the flat holes) to vacuum the internal dust out as well
Does not matter how clean you think you are unless you live in a static free and dust free environment you’re going to see it looking like that in about 1 to 2 years. Just done mine yesterday after a year and the fan had a slight layer but was minor. Heat sinks seemed clean.
Can you please share what vaccum cleaner you had used?
Fun fact: as soon as he opened it and revealed the truth, my video automatically jumped to 144p. Lol. Chill YT, i'm not that sensitive.
I've had mine since launch and play many many hours a day and also leave it on power saving mode for days at a time and I opened mine up for the first time yesterday. It barely had any dust at all.
I gave my son’s PS5 a good clean last week I even took the fan out as well as the hoovering, my son has to leave the room once I start taking it apart. Dismantled the PS4 before no fear here great video

Home air purifiers are snake oil
This sh*t is so satisfying to watch!😂
I'm on the third floor of an apartment. I don't play my PS5 a great deal, but I've had it for 18 months and have not cleaned it until today, when I installed an M.2 SSD. I did have some dust buildup on the outside top, which I just wiped off. Very little dust inside, none really all that visible - I just took a blower to it.

Must have a nasty ass house
I’ve had my ps4 slim for about 7 years now (since release) and I just took off the top cover today to see how much dust was in there and there was near to none
Make sure you take the fan out, and vacuum down inside along the vents, and heat sink, or you'll have overheating problems eventually.
This really reminds of that video of a guy having a spider living inside his ps5 and disappeared.
KZread algo is crazy. Just did this today the same way as well. I didn’t even search on KZread as well😂
Thanks mate. Really easy and straight forward to follow. Appreciate it 👍🏼
I believe i had my PlayStation 5 for 2 or 3 years and I never cleaned it! I also have 2 cats so I can’t imagine how much dust is in there!
I'm a techy person but not to the point where I'd self repair my ps5. Although I did open it and took off some parts to do a deeper clean and now it's immaculate
This is why I clean my consoles once a month.
My friends ps5 is so dusty there’s even dust on the outside of the air vents😂
