Hard to believe that even the music could fit into 64k. Thank goodness for procedural music! I remember a music player for the Amiga years ago that exclusively used procedurally generated music (no samples) and most tunes were under 5k, and they sounded great too! Anyway, impressive demo!

Depends upon your starting point. A lot of the microdemos (64k and 4k) are done using shaders. If you already know programming, spend some time in shadertoy to both get a grip on it, and to find your creative visual style. If you don't know any programming, spend time with a book, or website or whatever to teach yourself the basics of graphics programming. It doesn't really matter what language or environment. Just anything that lets you move things around the screen and have fun learning will get you started.

I am not so-involved in the demoscene community, but I believe only a few more years and AI-demos will be a thing. Coders in the last few yeard have realized that lighting effects, bokeh, UV mapping, and realistic, actual music-like soundtracks are a good way for boosting the overall apperance of the demo, for "cheap". I believe the next step will be AI-optimisation of the code.
