    Thx for the reminder to take inventory of what we have, and use up what we can, before going to the grocery store to buy more. I'm still adjusting to having an empty nest. After a couple decades of shopping for a family of four, it is a paradigm adjustment to think and shop for just the two of us. We often have our son and his wife over for Sunday dinners now, but most days it's just the two of us. It's a challenge to shop differently, and use up things before getting more. But I'm learning. So thanks again Mindy! 😊

    Mindy, You do such a great job of using up what you have. I aspire to that. I am the only one in my house that eats veggies so I have to be very careful when buying and only buy what I will eat before it goes bad or buy frozen. It makes me ill to have to toss something but it does happen unfortunately. I did just have a win and used up a jar of queso that was about to expire - We just made loaded Nachos with a pound of hamburger and used up a half bag of tortilla scoops. Yummy.

You put some meat in the pita, along with some lettuce, tomato, cucumber and/or onion. Top it with garlic sauce and a special red "shoarma" sauce. And you have a very good and quick meal!

  • @cvblair

    @cvblair

    The FDA allows a certain number of various things bug parts rodent hairs maggots etc. to be in food. This is particularly frequent in grain products. Freezing kills weevil eggs so that they don’t hatch later. It is good practice.

    Interesting. White wine is about 12-15% ABV. So after cooking the sauce for 30 minutes, the one cup of wine I used would be 5-7% ABV, and this made at least 8 servings, so 2TBSP of wine 5%ABV…yeah I’m not gonna fret over that for us. I think some people should or prefer to use stock and that’s fine.
