Thanks mate!! Keep up the good work this winter. All the best to you and your team 👍
looks class mate - i’m doing a clay paver path next week, laying my edging pavers on mortar with a haunch and then screeding the sharp sand off of those. When you lay the pavers, do you butt them up to each other, or leave a few mm gap? says to leave a gap online for the kiln sand to get in there, but would they not just wiggle around as you’re laying them if not butted up?

Hi mate, yeah they do want them with a tiny gap so they're not touching. They are odd shapes so there will always be voids for sand but we sometimes use thin slips of card to space them. You can also lay small sections and kd sand it as you go - but use loads of string lines as you cant straighten them once sanded. They're a bit fiddly to start but awesome material to work with 👍
Love clay pavers. They are stunning. Do you guys recommend setting them in mortar or laying them on sand as I can see you doing both in the video? Also at 47s what type and range fo pavers are they? They look like Cottage Garden.

Thanks for the interest, they are global stone 'tudar' and you can see that path installed in our 'landscaping a garden' video. Would recommended laying them on just sharp sand if jointing with kd sand (like a driveway) much easier and they drain better. We morter bedded some of the paths in the video as we had lights going in them and sand tends to wash into the cut outs for the bulbs. If we were to joint the the pavers with mortar or resin we would also cement bed every paver.
Looks great, I’m looking to do something very similar. What size are the pavers? If you lay on a sand bed do you still have a fall or install level?

Thank you, its our favourite product to work with! Bexhill, by Chellmer valley.. They are 200mm x 48mm. Sand beds alow slightly better drainage than mortar beds although everything is still laid with a minimum of 1 over 80 fall to allow the the bulk of water to run off the surface of the paving when it rains. 👍

@@HowWeLandscape Thanks for the info, they do look fantastic. I'm currently planning a path similar to the one in this video. For planning purposes do you assume that there is no gap between the pavers? What size do you make your cuts? 152mm, 104mm and 56mm? or something else?
Have you ever jointed in clay pavers? If so, any recommendations on what to use.. want to avoid moss growing in the joints. (laying on a cement bed to butt up to a porcelain patio).

We don't as large amounts of pointing takes time and is prone to blowing in the future. If it was a soft paver or brick I'd use traditional sand and cement. But if it was a smooth hard paver like the 'bexhill' in the video I'd use something like streetscape gtfk vdw 850. Thats stuffs bulletproof!
