Honestly, after finding out about all the tricks and skips people do, this feels insanely impressive. The shrogos, the thorn skips, and the speed of it all just baffles me. This is amazing.

@NYEH_HEH_HEH that isn't the only thing I meant, but learning how to do a glitch is different from knowing it exists, and even if they did know every glitch they used beforehand (as seems likely tbf given this isn't their first task) this I'd still difficult to create, which is what my origonal comment meant.

Very much depends on the setting, normal movement through areas in base game is probably around 2 hours per minute, these platforming challenges are substantially longer. The modded Rock Bottom one took me 11 hours for 2 minutes of content. I didn't keep track but this was probably around 6-8 hours, a lot of the time is spent shrogoing so I don't have to TAS any movement for 0.59s, and a lot of the shrogos were copy pasted inputs. The final result is always worth it :)

1:32 seems humanly doable, it looks like shriek-pogos could replace the thorn-skip, I am just not sure that it would be faster than the thorn-skip-skip.

It's super useful when you're speedrunning the game and have to quickly get 1800 essence, abyss shriek, and beat the path of pain for the journal entry but you don't have claw

kamakiller and Levi967 (on youtube) have both done this rta but they used kingsoul. I assumed TAS wouldn't need it, but was still surprised how much better shrogos are with TAS.

if I counted correctly there are 28 abyssal shriek pogos used, with the longest chain of them consecutively being 6 (bonus: 1 descending dark and 4 shade souls being used to fight the kingsmoulds at the end

Nope, take a closer look. Walljumps have a very specific animation, this is just another case of thorns not fully covering an area and being able to stand there. At the beginning and during the inventory drop I also show the inventory, I don't have claw at all.

is normal WP possible without claw? if so Im pretty sure that TE clawless is possible

There is a singular tall room right after the first elevator that's impossible to get up. I still intend to test in TAS to see how close it is but it's definitely impossible.

Abyss shriek alone does not, but you can pogo your own spell (therefore the name "shrogo"). Its very precise, and you need to use wings to get high enough for the pogo so its shriek>wings>pogo>repeat.

Its a TAS, meaning I went through this frame by frame, redoing parts until its perfect. Humans have done this too though using kingsoul for more shrogos.

Despite the fact that it is AI (TAS, okay), this looks cool

This isn't AI. TAS is made by humans giving a list of inputs for a computer to follow frame by frame. By using save states to go back over parts, we can tweak every part of the movement until it cuts it as close as possible to be as fast as possible.

Without mantis claw/ability to wall jump, it's the only way to get super high up. It's a self-imposed restriction to see how fast path of pain can be cleared despite it.

This is a TAS, so I effectively played the game in super slomo and redid parts over and over until it was perfect. There is a human version of this on youtube though. Dont get discouraged, a very small amount of players decide to take the premise of this game incredibly far, but even playing it normally it is an absolute masterpiece.

This is a TAS (tool assisted speedrun), which means I played through the game in super slomo with hitboxes and other tools, as well as being able to go back and redo sections until they were as good as I could get them. TASes are made by humans, so theyre only as good as the person making them, but I dont think theres too much time that can be saved in this.

Just a while ago it was easy to beat a bot in a game, but now we stand no chance against machine learning. (This Speedrun had no machine learning in it)

low% pop isnt all that interesting. Wings is required for the absolute first jump. If you skip claw (2%), you instead need 3 soul vessels (3%) and twister (1%). One of shriek or cdash (both 2%) are required after the first checkpoint in the first room, and cdash is just easier to utilize there and at the middle of room 3. Dash's only replacement would be VS (2% vs 1%) but the end of room 3 isnt doable with only 3 fireballs so adding either a soul vessel or twister (1%) makes it the same completion. So the gear is dash(2)+claw(2)+wings(2)+cdash/shriek(2)=8% completion. To actually get there youd need dnail and a few bosses/essence grinding.

At the start, he shows his abilities and he doesn't have claw. In that moment (and several others), he just stepped on a tiny bit of ground on that platform, that isn't in the hitbox of the thorns.
