Claudio Arrau, one of the best pianists in the world, a pure genius. I can hear everything that the composer wanted to tell by listening him. He's telling all the story in a unique way and so much emotion.

Dentro de una entrevista, Claudio menciona que su en su etapa de niñez escuchaba a su madre interpretar Rondo Caprichoso, desarrollándose con cada nota y puliendo cada detalle para llegar a ser el mejor interprete de piano chileno y del mundo, gracias por tanto Claudio Arrau

This video is a treasure. There's another that may have been made around the same time, but there's a cut in it. I first heard him live in 1964, then again in 1966. In 1969 I auditioned for him, and he accepted me as a student. In subsequent years he taught me the "Arrau Technique," which has helped me enormously ever since. Even in the hardest pieces, no tiredness, no tenseness, and best of all, no musician's dystonia!

@@johncobb3506 I'm sure the reason for Arrau's expansive tonal palette was his naturally relaxed approach to the instrument, one sensed a complete lack of tension as he played. As a result the piano became virtually an extension of himself. As you were a one time student of Arrau I'm sure I hardly need mention his fierce artistic integrity and scholarship. Audiences never witnessed shallow exhibitionism or vanity in his stage presence or performances, yet there was always an essential emotional connection to the music which was compelling. A much missed grandee among great pianists of the 20th Century.
