Putting coffee grounds can help with smells. The grounds absorb odors. Also, kitty litter can also absorb odors.

Thanks for the tip! It's definitely gotten MUCH better with time.

If your drawers still smell after airing them out you could try dryer sheets? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know I put them in my holiday trailer which helps. I love how much bulletin board space you have.

You can use shaving cream to clean desks.

I don’t know about old snack drawer smells but shaving cream, since you already have in your classroom, sprayed in the desk and left to sit might help. It actually gets rid of the smell of urine on bathroom floors, Something us pre-K teachers have had to learn over the years. Those little boys miss a lot,so might work on stinky old snacks smells worth a try.

What a big room! I can totally sympathize with the gross teacher desk. I’ve inherited rooms that were just nasty, one was infested with mice! I might suggest putting your small group area near your desk. If you are doing your main planning at your desk, it’ll be easier to take stuff over to the kidney table. Also, having the kidney table on the tile would be a higher traffic area, thus more distracting for the kiddies. Best wishes to you!

I like your idea for your teacher desk, library, and kidney table. How do you plan on grouping your desks? I like groups of 4.

@@teachwithchels I didn’t know that when I got mine either. I had a family friend tell me to try it and it worked like a charm :)

I'd get rid of the desk and use the kidney table as my work space. Teacher desks take up too much valuable space. Or maybe the school has a rectangle table you could use instead of a desk?

I’ve known a few teachers who rid themselves of teacher desks! All of the classrooms I long term subbed in still had them, so now I’m just so used to them! I did end up moving it to the front corner and it doesn’t seem nearly as obtrusive. 😊
