Segment A:
Irvington ROTC - SFC Craig runs the Junior ROTC program at Irvington High School where he watches his students grow from undisciplined children into strong, powerful young adults. The cadets demonstrate ceremonial marches and physical fitness teams.
Segment B:
Mighty Fingers - Mighty Fingers is a program that empowers girls around the world through art. Clinton Public Schools brought this global art project to their 5-8th grade girls. The goal is to get girls who are not normally involved in the school community engaged in a meaningful project that will empower and inspire them. This story includes social justice issues.
Segment C:
Katie’s Class - Katie Hanlin’s classroom rocks because of the specials. Throughout the day, there is a steady stream of specials visiting the preschool at Northfield Community School. The little ones engage in gym, music, speech and occupational therapy.
Segment D:
Search for Conscience - Vineland High School educator Terry Kuhnreich teaches social consciences focusing on tolerance and acceptance. Many of her lessons revolve around lessons of the Holocaust and genocide, and when she and her students had the opportunity to talk directly to an investigator for the Nuremberg trials, they could barely contain their excitement. The students spoke with Benjamin Ferencz via Skype about his life’s mission for peace. For more information about Ferencz, go to www.benferencz.org or NurembergLegacy.
