He was right, though. Women shouldn't dress in Potato Sacks, and look bad. I'm not saying that every woman does that, of course, or that no women know how to take care of themselves. But some women, the way that they dress, or should I say, undress, nowadays, act like it's a crime to wear decent clothing! They go around, looking like a walking advertisement for sex, with their tight clothing! When a woman dresses that way, say what you want, but you won't catch me hanging around 'em!

By the time TV came to the point where footage like this might have existed, he was pushing 40 as it was. He was born just as World War ONE was wrapping up in 1918. By the mid 50's he'd already had 20 years in the sport under his belt.

Thanks to KZread, I've seen every major wrestling announcer multiple times and none have come close to Dick Lane. As opposed to just holding the mic like so many these geeks do, Lane would get into verbal fights with the heels and would criticize dirty moves when they were wrestling. "There should be a thousand dollar fine for doing that." But Dick showed such affection for the baby faces that you'd think they were his sons. He was a very popular actor in 1950's gangster movies and he could play either the crook or the police detective....great training for wrestling. Anyway, I really wanted to make a comment on Blassie's criticism of the way "women around here" dressed. A lot of women attended wrestling matches in those days and he is probably just trying to create heat with them.

The big guy there is Jules Strongbow, who was the longtime booker for the LeBell family's Olympic Auditorium promotion. He's in "The Road to Morocco" with Hope and Crosby. There was a character on the first couple of seasons of "The Andy Griffith Show" named Mr. Strongbow, whose name had to have been inspired by Jules. Rance, Ron and Clint Howard used to attend the Olympic wrestling shows regularly, and may have suggested it to the show's producers.

The "Curtain Call" from Early 1996, where Scott Hall and Kevin Nash hugged Shawn Michaels and Triple H, after a Steel Cage Match. The pretense (Kayfabe), was figuratively shot straight through the Head and the Heart, and was effectively killed off that night. Understandibly, Vince was FURIOUS!!!!! He knew how important Kayfabe was, and what it was meant for. To have 4 Clowns kill Kayfabe like that...to Vince, it was a type of Unforgivable Sin! After Hall and Nash left to go to WCW, Vince got Triple H and Shawn Michaels alone, and sternly told them off! He finished by saying:"It's a huge (Blankety-blank) sandwich, and we're all gonna have to go a big bite! Wrestling, while exciting, hasn't really been the same ever since.
