I hope that no one will scold Diana for performing Vysotsky's song. But it is better to sing it when you have more years behind you. She tried very hard not to ruin the song. If she sings it in 30-40 years, it will be a masterpiece, in my opinion.

As others might comment it was a song they thought would be a challenge for her to sing based on her past. I believe it speaks to abandonment. This is without a doubt my favorite from Diana.

Glad you got to this one - my favourite of the early ones, powerful and emotional. I have watched this many times to the conclusion and I can add what some of the judges said. The one who buzzed first said he had goosebumps for most of the song and he said what was so marvellous was how Diana allows the sounds, every note and nuance, to emanate from her body with such emotion - he concluded that she was there so that others like him who know something of the "business" might actually learn from her as they offer to help her and that she is, indeed, not of this planet, The blonde woman, Diana Arbenina, herself a well known artist was struck , for a while, not knowing exactly where she was; that Diana's gift is truly God-given, She further wondered how a 15 year old could give such a performance such that she, who is over 40, would experience the same emotions from the song as Diana herself clearly was doing. As for your comments about Yolka, another singer, she was saying "where is it (the sound) coming from? But, yes definitely from the heart!! In fact Diana participated in two consequtive seasons of You Are Super TV Show, at the age of 14 and 15. At first season she performed Dernier Danse, Man's World, Rechenka and Tomorrow I a Lie, and won. Next season she sang Blizzard, Wicked Game and Human and won Grand Prix. And of course her voice was becoming deeper and deeper, as well as afterwards. Also, after the show she worked hard on the upper register, and now, at the age of 17 Diana has fully formed as unique dramatic contralto, starting from D3 without vocal fry, and has an operational range of 3 octaves and 1 tone, so that's D6.
