This is the first game i ever played. Its one hell of an introduction.
This game was so ahead of it's time. Graphics were way ahead of it's time storyline and replay value to this day. One of my very favorite SNES games
I love this game even today, I know modern gen gamers would take one look at this and not be impressed, but when this game came out in 1993 it blew my mind from the graphics to it's amazing soundtrack. I'm a retro gamer and this was one of my favorite SNES games I have ever played. And who can forget the classic quote "Do a Barrel Roll!"

DarkSektori yes. Great game. I never preferred “polygon” graphics but this game changed my viewpoint. The entire game is quite enjoyable.

i still like it a little more than star fox 64, although that game is amazing too. i remember thinking the original was too short, but it took a long time to find and beat all 3 paths. the 3rd path was especially challenging as a kid, and that one near perfect game i played to finally beat it is one of the most satisfying and memorable gaming moments i've had.
WOO HOO! I had just defeated the game STARFOX: ASSAULT a couple of minutes ago and i wanted to watch this video because of the great mood I'm in! AW YEA!
OMG I love this game. One of the best games ever made. Awesome music and gameplay and made by Shigeru Miyamoto. #Win Thanks for reviewing it for us!
I still hum the music to this game all the time

its better music than the 64 version
Eighteen years later and still an awesome game. Awesome music, awesome controls, extremely addictive, and in my top five favorite games of all time. It's my favorite Super Nintendo game second to Super Metroid. I highly recommend it to anyone who owns a Super Nintendo, someone who is a fan of the series, or just someone who likes good games.
What a wonderful walk thru our memories of old. We miss you Mark.
One of my all time favorites. The soundtrack is outstanding.
my first owned console game back over 10+ years ago Nostalgia.
they did an amazing job, you can tell they pushed the console to its limits, and the n64 version was the masterpiece
Wow! This was back when you inserted the cartridge in the proper console.

What? I still do that. Am I weird?
Oh man I haven't played this in years. I think my favorite parts of the game were the freaky elements like the giant blue whale randomly flying through space and the gigantic slot machine boss.
There are few games I played through over and over again just to listen to the music...and this is one of them. ;)
This is the first console game that I have ever played and somehow it still manages to be my favorite one.
I got this game for my SNES a few years ago at a pawn shop for about $10. Best $10 I ever spent on a video game. I was ADDICTED to this game like crack. Having played ALL of the other Star Fox games to the point of conquering them, this was a new challenge for me because it was WAY more difficult and, in a weird way, MUCH darker and warlike than the other games in the series.
I love playing this on my SNES! I'm so glad Mark did a review of this!
Even today I'm amazed watching this and thinking how this happened only 3 years after launch. Of course things were moving very quickly as far as visual capabilities in video games at the time.
I remember thinking how 'ahead of its time' this game was--that alone made playing it amazing and addicting.
I went back to this a few weeks ago - and was surprised at how it still looks good, plays well, and the music rocks. It's got the Nintendo magic that'll make sure it always delivers a fun experience.
I still play this game. Its like my super nintendo makes magic everytime I pop it in.
I played the heck out of this when I was a kid. A solid game for sure.
I remember playing this game a lot back then. The "giant face" end boss and the secret areas like the slot machine.
I used to play this all the time when I was little...
One of the best introductions to a review I've ever heard. That should be the description on the box for the game.
At 4:26 you can see a Venomian pilot floating in space in the bottom right!
the thing i love most about snes: audio, everything had really deep bass on that system :D
One of my Top 5 favorite SNES games, and proof positive than polished and balanced gameplay can withstand the passage of time regardless how primitive the graphics are. The music deserves special mention, even better than in the sequels.
Ah nostalgia set in as soon as I heard that music
It doesn't lag at all - Starwing/Starfox plays almost perfectly!
I loved this game on my SNES! It's amazing!
That's funny, I was playing this game the other day. It's one of those games that stick out from my collection that urges me to pull out my classic systems and have a blast.
I used to rent this game every freakin' weekend from an Albertson's grocery store... The best music, totally ridiculous graphics for a 16-bit console... And even the gibberish dialogue sounds better than the dialogue in the newer releases. I wish somebody would get back to THIS game.

From Albertsons
I just played this game along with all the other FX games before coming to check out Mark's review and I have to say that STarwing, as it's called here, is the only FX chip game that really holds up. Yoshi's Island holds up too of course, but that's because the game doesn't try to push any polygons besides some special effects. The controls for this game feel spot on for some reason despite the low framerate. I guess Nintendo really put their all into this game with the low frame rate in mind and it really shows.
STAR FOX = My childhood
The vector process was already capable on the SNES itself. The Super FX processor was used to render the polygons in a frame buffer to reduce memory consumption. Google it up if you don't believe me.
It makes me happy whenever anyone mentions Falco. :D
gotta mention that music, that music still is as awesome as it was 20 years ago
This was one of my favorite SNES games. I never played Starfox 64, but I just ordered it for 3DS. I hope it's as good as the original.
Yes!! actual classic games again! thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!
one of my all time faves
I loved playing this game on my old SNES. Though hard and frustrating at times, I played it so much untill I mastered the entire game. Didn't you get something like sunglasses or something for fully perfecting the game? I know they did that in Starfox64. OH and that music so amazing to listen to even today. Nostagia kicking in hard now, anyone remember the black hole which was entered by shooting that one meteorite and the other meteor sent you to the out of this dimention?
Truly badass game. That is all i have to say.
i loveee this game!!! ohh soo many memories
I played this when I was 2 (Not during original release, sadly wasn't born yet ._.)I was blown away by the impressive gameplay, sounds, and just the feel of fun while you just fly around like a pro.
Sweet vid Mark!
That's one of my favorite games EVER!
Yay! More SNES reviews please!
Yeah! Star Fox! The best soundtrack of all the series. The music is really some of the best ever heard on Super Nintendo. Just listen to the Titania theme or the ending theme and....wow, chills all over! I wonder why Nintendo didn't release it on Virtual Console.
It's funny too because Space Harrier 2/StarFox are two games I excel at... always loved that type of shooter.
one of the best games i had as a kid
0:48 I remember hoping I could get to those mountains in the distance. Sometimes I tricked my eyes into thinking they were getting closer. But I never did reach them... :(

I love this game so much and am just aching to play this on a real console. Great review!
gotta love that intro music :'')
I absolutely love this game.
This star fox, its just the bomb, i played it every second i had when i was little
mark is the best reviewer of all time, and he does it all in his kitchen :p
Still owning my original copy of this game and playing it every so often feel good. Mark: PLEASE REVIEW STAR FOX 2 SNES (even if its only available in ROM form)!
Always thought Falco was saying "Voo Voo Voo Dammit"
oh wow... i honestly didn't know Star Fox goes back that far. thats awesome ^_^
2:21 how falco got that low of a health bar is beyond me how Slippy is still there is just mind boggling
Man this game is legendary.
watching while playing star fox.
i never played this because it came out the year i was born, but i played the hell out of star fox 64, one of my favourite games ever, i still play it
I remember this being one of my first Super Nintendo games :p
This is still, to me, the best Star Fox. The raw mechanics in 64 are better, but the soundtrack, trippy style, and universe are much better here. Fantastic game with fantastic challenge and great worlds to explore. To me it feels like a mix of an arcade shooter with the universe and the sort of finesse of PC flight games like Wing Commander.
LOVED THIS GAME
I furkin' love this damn game! Badass music on the first level, someone should do a heavy metal version.
Their Corneria (Level-1) music was EPIC
A lot of people say this game really didn't hold up, but I disagree, it's still a lot of fun today even when Star Fox 64 is taken into account.
I love this game.
The first Star Fox I played was this one, and I love the 64 one too. :P
one of the greatest SNES games
I love Star Fox :) It's a must have game for anyone that has a SNES.
Call me crazy but I like Star Fox on the SNES better than the N64 one. This one is more challenging, more levels, kick-ass music, awesome sound effects and I do love how this game looks even if the Arwings look like the paper airplanes you use to throw around in school and you can count how many polygons it uses on one hand but it was mind blowing when I first played it as a kid.
I can't believe this was on SNES and I had it. There was nothing else like it and that draw distance. lol
the absolute BEST in the entire franchise...
I always Love the first stage Corneria music
Falco always sounded like he was saying "BABY WE JAMMIN" to me.
though the game hasn't aged well, there's some beauty on those slowdowns. Back then in world of nintendo they had an actual stafox cabinet that was like an arcade version of it, it was awesome, also cardboard models of the arwings and they gave you a poster if the game with your super nintendo. Now gamers have 3 pages black and white manuals and have to unlock all the secrets with their wallets.
I kind of like this game more than the N64 one. Mainly because I never beat level 3, while I beated SF64 like 100 times. Thank God, I still have this for the SNES.
Hey Mark is back!!!
what is the name of the song that plays when the red and white classic gaming room logo pops up?
This game was the main reason why I never bought a Sega Gensis which I asked for on my 9th birthday and got this instead.
Mark!! This was my first game that I played and loved! It was sssoooo fun, but I was lost on what to do with that boss who.. Kinda shouts giant white rectangular blocks. o.O
Great game!
This may become my 3rd snes game :)
One of the first games i loved... also ALTTP
How I wish this was available on the Virtual Console!
This game was/is awesome!!!!
I remember this game when it first came out, i miss my snes
This really does beat the hell out of Star Fox 64.
@MegatronYES That's the fun in it. Shootting anything and everything even when nothing is there :)
I was more of a Genesis player, but this game rocked!
This game looks amazing, I must have it! I grew up with the N64 and my favorite on the console was StarFox 64 :D Still is!
i still own my original copy!! love this game!!
I waited over a year for this review..........waw, well at least you kept your word.(Classic Game Room HD - NAKITEK SUPER NINTENDO SEGA GENESIS controller review)
ZOMG! Polygonz!
@RareReviewz For me it was called "Lylat Wars" and yes it was the first star fox. And 3D stuff on the SNES was at least kinda "special" (just a handfull games used this).
You can always change the camera view on the game at any time you would like Mark.
