Classic ambient on Moog One

A performance of Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie on the Moog One.
Reverb is from the Moog One's internal effects, the Black Hole algorithm from Eventide. There is very light EQ, compression, and limiting on the master.
Yes, I know the Gymnopédies are not part of Satie's "Furniture Music". I think this is still the perfect background music for life, though maybe My Dinner with Andre is skewing my perspective.
Thanks for listening.

I mean massive compliments when I say that this rendition sounds like if G. No. 1 was a C418 piece from the Minecraft soundtrack. It’s truly so beautiful how adding that tiny little Moogish touch to some classical ambient writing just sends you to a whole new world.
So beautiful... You've inspired me to start actually learning some more proper, yet basic piano skills-I'm currently at the level of a somewhat talented chimpanzee, but still enjoying myself immensely.
Satie is one of my favorite classical composers and the Gymnopédies and Gnossiennes are landmarks in a new direction.
when Jay and Moog meet Erik... it's... magic
As I'm listening and listening, I'm getting the image of Vangelis playing Satie on a CS80. Keep it up!
Most excellent. What a wonderfully waterlogged, ghostly quality to that sound. Waterlogged in a great way.
nice playing and your patch on the moog one fits very well, it's a subtle but expressive sound! perfect synth performance of a beautiful piece 🙂
Lovely- Thank you Jay for the theme music for my lunch today!

Lovely music. Unfortunately at 10 I was forced to learn the violin which helps me tons to learn about synths 60 years later!!! Its nice to be able to know your keyboard and muscle memory tells you its the right chords. Ahh well. Thanks. Lovely.
Always love your stuff! Keep it on! Thank you!
yess!! Beautifully done
Fantastic, thanks so much!
Great job Jay! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Wonderful , Jay ,-
I'm literally crying, this is beautiful
Nice work dude! ❤️🙏
I agree about the piano lessons.............gives you the opportunity to get so much more from music.....different styles, directions, etc........great upload......so cool to experience this as 'Ambient'
Beautiful! I agree with your comment about piano lessons too. I started them a couple of years ago and it has really opened up and changed my relationship with music for the better.
My furniture is very relaxed. Great playing! Thanks for posting!
Sweet, serene, and relaxing. Thanks. Reminds me of a day relaxing in the park shot through through a foggy lens.
love this! thanks for reminding me I should play more piano
Bravo!
Gorgeousness and gorgeousity. 🙏🏻❤️
I love this song and I love this cover.
So sweet! Love Satie.
I am feel. I am very feel.
Did not see this coming :) I love Satie and your rendition of this beautiful piece. I find it quite hard to play Gymnopédie No. 1 (only know the first part) but Gnossienne No. 1 was probably the first piece I learned to play completely out of my head, keep comping back to that one, it's such a joy to play and try to put more of my soul in it as it's slowly learning how to get my fingers to listen ;) Can't agree more about the piano lessons. It had been a dream of mine for a longer time but for some reason I waited until last year (at age 40, but I'm deeply convinced age on its own should never stop you from doing anything), when I found out I have a neighbor who happens to be a great piano teacher ♥
De toute beauté, bravo ! 🤩
I absolutely love this. The sound is up my alley. I want to take piano lessons some day for the same reason. Any instrument, really, instead of just messing around and trying to play sounds.
Great job on this Jay. From the father of ambient. Love it.
So emotional. You know how to play Satie mate.
It is a lovely great big bloody thing, isn't it? Nice performance :-)
Nice. Now I'm inspired to fire mine up when I get home.
Love this. Now I gotta go break out the William Orbit.
Very vey nice 👏👏👏👌👌👍🤙💣💣
That was lovely bro.i shouldve stuck with the lessons but was too infatuated with the technology. Do you know that every one of those knobs has a plastic film over the aluminium insert which is meant to be removed, like the film on a screen... it kills me... 👍
Good stuff! I've been wanting to pick one of these up but the price tag is overwhelming. Wish I had a friend close by with one lol
Merci j'aime beaucoup Éric Satie,a saint Martin d'hères en France, nous avons une école de musique qui porte son nom
Wow so nice! 😍 Really didn't expect that! As far as I recall, your first "cover" here? 😅

Imperfect in lots of ways, but extremely powerful/capable, two very different and very good sounding filters, and a nice playing experience. It's kind of like a piece of furniture, though, or an art installation, in the physical and psychological space it takes up in a room. And thanks!
Great video! +1 for piano lessons. You say the Moog One is noisy - do you mean it has like a noisy fan, or clicky keyboard?

The synth sound itself has a little bleed/noise if the internal gate settings aren't right, too. But also a noisy fan, yeah. And thanks!
how the heck did you make this piano patch?!?!?!?!

Three oscillators, I believe, though I maybe muted one before performance? Mostly squarish waves with a bit of beating and modulation. Both filters used. Velocity on both amp and filter. Pan spread. Built-in reverb, the Black Hole algorithm. Hope that helps!
