Class C RV remodel timelapse // Couple remodels 21 Year Old camper van START to FINISH

#campervantimelapse #calledtowander
Check out our RV remodel time lapse to see a quick preview of everything we did to turn our used motorhome into our tiny home on wheels.
We recently purchased a 1999 Shasta Cheyenne Class C motorhome and spent 6 months remodeling it. From fresh paint and vinyl plank flooring to building a sofa, composting toilet and shower we put a lot into this remodel.
Be sure to subscribe to our channel and check out all of our Season 4 Remodeling videos for all of the details for how we did each of the projects you’ll see in this camper build time lapse.

Thanks for watching and reaching out! We're still working through our final numbers and will have a post and video for each of the projects along the way that will outline more of what went into each. We budgeted around 8K for our entire remodel. But this ended up being stretched a little on some maintenance things (like brakes and appliance repairs) that were not strictly remodel projects. Stay tuned and we'll have a better answer for you sometime down the road! =) As for the tools - we started with some hand tools we had but invested a few hundred dollars into a Ryobi set which made all the difference in completing the projects.

We’re a bad example for time because we each had to work 60+ hrs a week to make all this happen. So we only had 10-15 hours a week to focus on work. We have a great video on the roof job but unfortunately it won't be out for a while as it was one of the last jobs we did on the motorhome. But We'll work to get a post together with some tips and tricks. Essentially, do everything you need to do to your roof to repair/preventative maintenance before you put Henry's down. Once you seal the roof you're stuck with silicone. So we replaced vents, vent covers and tool out old sealant and put down new lap sealant on every seam. Then we also applied eternabond tape for even more protection on the roof before we put the Henry's down. We call this 3 layers of protection. But when it comes to the roof, we're not worried about it at all for the next few years! Let us know how it goes! And if you haven't already done so subscribe to our newsletter so you can get updates on our recent posts in the event we're able to put together the roof post before you get started! Thanks for watching!

It was great! We ended up doing 2 coats because it was so quick and we had tons of liquid sandpaper to use. Primer stuck perfectly and paint went on great after that!

What kind of paint did you use on your cabinets?

Heirloom traditions all in one paint. Mixed two of their colors, 1 part Mediterranean to 2 parts Capri on the colored cabinets. Cashmere white on the others.

Painted over the nice wood? you should have just revarnished it. How are you going to service the battery connections when you have built the seat over the batter compartment. No insulation under the flooring. Why would you take out the toilet. I ses a lot of what not to do, but you learn from your mistakes. At least you did the roof right.

Do what you want with your RV. Ours is wonderful. The wood felt like a 1999 out of the factory motorhome. Now it’s fresh and open and feels like home. The sofa lifts up and provides super easy access to the batteries, which don’t need servicing anyway. No insulation needed under the flooring, we never travel where it’s cold. The toilet is gone because we boondock and don’t want to waste water or tank space flushing… I just wasted 2 minutes of my life justifying why I chose to make this rv my home. But now you know

Gets boring doesn't it. Every makeover is the same colour nowadays. Much prefer the original interiors to these modern ones.

The weight with all that wood must be silly heavy. 😱

It is not as heavy as you would think. We removed a fair amount of weight in the process. But yes, there are some things where we could have used smaller or lesser amounts of wood. Still safe drive weight.
