When I decided to do this electric fan conversion on my diesel pusher RV, many said it couldn’t be done. I couldn’t find anyone else who had tried before, either. So in this video I talk about what I’m doing and why I think it will work.

Mister I think that everyone that's has ever throughout history tried something unconventional has been called crazy. Thank you to all of those that didn't pay attention to what other says and thank you for moving forward with this project and most definitely thank you for posting it. By the way what are you an engineer on ?

Thanks for the kind words. I work in aviation - previously aircraft engines and now avionics. I spent a few thousand hours running engines on dynos and test stands among other things.

Very impressive Ted. What about heat transfer for the CAC? Will the CAC require or benefit from a different cooling scenario than the motors coolant? Glad you followed through with this and didn't listen to your detractors.

Good stuff Ted, Jeannette even watched this with me on the big TV. Hope you and your family are having a good time away for the holidays.

Geo, I had thought about that and figured I’d let the engine tell me what it wants. One of the nice parts of how I have the control system set up is I can add additional inputs and variables if needed. In a future video I’ll talk about how the system is performing in the real world and necessary/planned changes. I’ll just say for now that it’s doing very well.

Super impressive. I’m currently doing this mod as well on 2003 safari cheetah with the 3126. Did you change and then wire the alternators together. Where before you had the 270 to house and 200 to the engine?

Glad to see someone besides me doing it! If you go through you can see my notes. The only thing I would change is I would go with the Ford/C6 Corvette fan controllers instead of the Mazda ones, or I might've gone with OEM fans instead of Dorman. When these Dorman fans get hot their current draw goes up, and so I have to limit them to about 60% PWM. Otherwise, everything I did all around works very well.

what fans did you use? I can't seem to find a list of materials anywhere

I originally had it in the video on the fabrication work. I've updated the description for the videos on this project to include the links to the fans and controllers I used as well as the other videos.

Did you buy those fans because of their reliability, or because they had a shroud already on them? Also, thank you so much for posting those so quickly, that's awesome! Could you also possibly post the Arduino code that you used to run the PWM?

@@gunks_getaway I bought them because I expected them to be reliable, the shroud and fans were about the right size (with two of them) and because I also expected them to meet the airflow needs. That last part is the most important. I address this in some of the other videos, which I'd encourage you to watch if you haven't because I also go through some notes about things I would've done differently if you're wanting to do this. Also make sure that you look at all of the other support work I did prior to the conversion as that was necessary for this to be successful. I should find a place to post the Arduino code I used. It's too long to fit in a KZread description. Right now I don't have it posted anywhere, but I started off by copying another set of code that was used (a similar PWM type of controller) that was set up for using this kind of controller on a fuel pump, but the same thing applies to a fan.
