The British Rail Class 465 Networker is a class of 147 electric multiple units built by Metro-Cammell, British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) and ABB Rail between 1991 and 1994, designed for fast acceleration. The units are operated by Southeastern.

    465s are the best trains in the world. They align with the platforms so well - there's no big gap or big step up. They're smooth with great suspension, and the seating is much more comfortable than the City Beams. The models which still have the thyristors sound really cool. I don't want them to be replaced!

    Nice video here. Explains in detail the differences between the subclasses. Thank you for not making the mistake of calling the Hitachi IGBT a "new Hitachi motor" as most people making these kind of videos do. I look forward to future videos

    Thank you for this! On my suburban line I prefer the 465 to the 376 because they're just more comfortable. The new City Beam 707 is okay, very smooth and easy to board, but the seats are much less comfortable and with less leg-room, and the ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE SO LOUD AND SO FREQUENT AND THEY GO ON AND ON AND ON AND ON and are actually broken. Too often I hear things like 'The next st.... The next station is St Johns. The next station is St Johns.'.

    It's funny how the GEC-Alstom inverter almost sound similar to the Japanese inverters.

    Sad the /2s are gone, they were my favourite, also the /9s are just the refurbished /2s. At least the 466s still have Alstom motors as otherwise there would be none on the standard commuter lines

    i remember getting on a 465 pair to charing x and it was an 8 coach. one was a 465/1 or a /0 (idk) and the other was a /9. ik it was a /9 because of the first class . it was fun listening it depart london bridge as u had the normal hitachi noises and then halfway through it changed to the f1 car motors, which was funny

    Look carefully at the driver door for the /2 & /9 and compare it the /0 & /1. Just in front of the driver’s side window, there is a line. The /0 and /1 is more thicker and more black in colour while the /2 and /9 has a more thinner one. That’s the easiest way for me.

    The easiest way for me to tell apart is look above the cab, /2 and /9 have a little vent where as the rest dont

    The 465/9 is usually used on semi fast service, yet it is still as fast as all the others reaching a max of 75 MPH while other trains like the 377, 375 and 376 reach 1000MPH. However, 465 trains are designed to accelerate faster than all of those trains. Ans maybe do another video like this but it is the IEP 800 801 an 802

    the BREL class 465s probably have a matchstick under them because they set on fire easily

    I only went on one once, that was during the summer when they entered service down there. I was at Faversham on a 465/9 service to Dover Priory and I saw a /2 heading to Ramsgate or somewhere I can't remember pulling into the station since it was obviously less common, I hopped on the downgraded 465 which had loose seating, rough patch up jobs and dodgy toilets. I now know why they got replaced by the 707, it was quite a shock tbh, I didn't know they were THAT bad... TLDR: I got on a shitty 465/2 instead of a /9 in the summer

    @@class317 I think it was! After I arrived at Ramsgate, I got a service to St Pancras and tried to find a 315, I sadly couldn't :(

    @@SouthEastTrainspotter according to my mum (who used to drive them) the cab interiors are also slightly different, placement of the emergency brake button on the centre console being a main differance

    apart from the 465/9 i hate all the other ones. The interiors are garbage the blue paint and the rubbish flooring.

    Everyone will be angry at southeastern when the 465's are gone and btw the Class 465/2's are at Ely Papworth Sidings must go visit there before there taken to scrap.
