This issue too but even the twelfth paper, it wouldve taken a single reread by anyone with any understanding of english to norice that ALL THE OPTIONS WERE THE SAME. for so many questions. ironic thing? I am in 10th and so giving my last board exam that day, the passage which actually came out to be sexist was actually difficult to understand at first half reading it. My experience? ppl may judge me for not being alert about it but i truly didn't even got the idea the passage meant looking down on our working mom's and women,feeling dumbfounded but nevertheless it was truly dissapointing

I'm in grade 12 this year and for almost all of the subjects, there was some or the other problem with the question papers, spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, out of syllabus questions. The english paper was so subjective and the options were so similar to one another, the math paper was v difficult as well and for the accounts paper they changed the entire pattern without any prior info istg we were so confused during the exam. But this, this is just straight up disgusting, up until now it was just cbse being irresponsible but now they're also corrupting the minds of young children, teaching them sexism and misogyny, this is so messed up and no apology is gonna make it right.

I had this paper for my exam and it pissed me off so much. And after this one of the questions that followed was the writer is a) a chauvinistic pig B) a disgruntled husband C) cares for the welfare of the family D) takes a light-hearted approach to life. Now, i know for a fact that chauvinistic pig would not be the answer and i had to fight the urge and ended up marking cares for the week being of the family. Guess what the answer was!! Takes as light hearted approach to Life!! I mean what the hell. That is soooooo stupid. It pissed me off so much. The had the AUDACITY to ask such a question

Our education system sucks , and everyone including our parents just want MARKS , even if we did not learn anything and just memorize it's ok for them,literally all they want is MARKS! ,This should change first And your mom is definitely good 👍,the ppl who made this paper are either out of mind or discriminate women,this is some serious issue,I don't even get how this came till here

Something similar I'd like to draw attention to, class 11 english textbook has a chapter called Ranga's Marriage which discusses the potential marriage between 11years old prepubescent female and a grown up man in his 20s or 30s and promotes paedophilia!

@@preethik6127 Let's just not justify it. It doesn't pass off as an EXCUSE OR JUSTIFICATION for what is printed in the textbook. I agree that the story was of older times but then they should have specified and cited the CURRENT laws regarding marriage, consent and sexual harassment either before or after the chapter atleast. Moreover I still don't understand the need of that particular chapter. And just a fact check there the ages of the characters during marriage and pregnancy are not specified so it can't be ruled out as child marriage. Though in my humble opinion it is inclined to it. Even if the chapter was for humor they could have used it as a nice opportunity to teach students about current laws rather than blatantly ignoring the text.

I’m a class 12 student and so far I’ve given 4 exams, the english one for our batch was really confusing in the literature part, it could be interpreted in multiple ways. Many people are complaining about the difficulty of passages as well, it was hard but at least it had distinct answers unlike the literature portion. The maths exam was moderately hard but it was way too lengthy and could not have been completed honestly in the given time. Psychology required critical thinking, physical education was to the point. All in all, just a few answers could have been wrong in the answer key too. I had not been paying much attention to the rising concerns but when a friend showed me this passage I had had enough. It’s unbelievable how it was even let to be put out as an exam, did they really not see this outrage coming?! Just providing grace marks does not make it okay. They should be taught a lesson and need to take more accountability.

When my sister read this passage in the exam hall, she was pissed af, and rightly so! Everybody should have been! But for many others, this passage just reaffirmed the sexist ideas that we are all surrounded by. (Unconsciously ingrained sexism?) It troubles me to see that young students are more concerned about getting extra marks instead of questioning about why and how was such a regressive passage included in the question paper in the 1st place. Its even more troubling when I see some students demanding extra/bonus marks for having marked the "correct" answers (according to the to the answer key, which also points to a deeply sexist mindset) Like what do you guys even want extra marks for? For aligning to the regressive ideas stated in the passage?!??!?!?!?!? It is very unfortunate that such a passage was allowed in a national exam. I need an apology! And action against the committee that allowed such a passage and ideas to be presented to young impressionable minds.

THANK YOU for putting this out here! It was needed. The paper was absolutely horrible and disgusting. And yes, what's more disgusting is that this was allowed to be put out by the cbse board and teachers! HOW?!! WHY?!!

When I wrote the exam I was confused af. I thought they took this from some 1950’s guide to perfect family or something . I was giggling in my mind because with one slap and a “I’m your mother” any human can be tamed. But I was too worried about the time to think about this and after the exam was over I was too done with these exams to think about the paper so I just forgot everything. Ya this was just stupid. This whole exam was unorganised and shows how India works. They have 10 people to check if a kid scored 100 marks but it looks like they have only one person to check a question paper in which millions of kids write and depend upon. Even if the English teachers were allowed to get the answer key or correct the papers they could have found the mistakes. They told us that the question paper was for low average kids but hell no. Honestly it wasn’t that we weren’t angry, it was that we are done with this and just want to get it over with. Also frankly cbse only cares about marks.

This unseen passage was just too much for a 10 grade student to understand . Like when I saw the passage my mind was blown away . Hopefully they gave free marks but what about the literature section it was also difficult soo unfair

Another thing that infuriates me is that in my civics textbook ( Total History and Civics, icse ) they always use the pronouns HE while talking about a strong political figure as if they’re assuming that men are the only ones in key political positions , for example if they’re talking about the president’s powers they’ll write stuff like HE can do this and HIS … blah blah when we’ve literally had a female president . This clearly shows that whoever wrote this associates politics with men and thinks that there are no women in politics . This literally so demotivating for young girls , I know it sounds like it’s just a small thing but it’s actually deep rooted patriarchy that influences minds . Just use neutral pronouns and don’t associate politics with men . It’s that simple !

The fact that the CBSE officials responsible for making boards papers are very well qualified and many of them having doctorate degrees shows that the ones knowing trigonometric functions , oxidising states of elements and LCR circuit succeed in their lifes when people with common sense and morals doesn't....So try being little bit sexist and go study for clearing JEE and NEET and make sure u don't have morals and common sense, and don't regret loosing ur childhood so that u can study 24/7 and earn in six figures when people who earns less than u enjoy their life cause they know how to love and respect everything they have and everyone around them

This did not come in my set exam , if it had i wouldn't even attempted the questions or even the whole examination . Hey a 10th CBSE student here, when I got the question paper and was given the 1st 20mins for reading and as this was the 1st question so I started reading this, after reading it exactly 5 times..the only thing that was clear to me was that this is something negative, I was just not able to process that the CBSE gave a very negative paragraph we were never habitual to this kind of perspective as we always since childhood * BELIEVED* that we learn good things and are taught to do good deeds in the school. So it was so confusing to even figure out the answer, almost everybody I came across after the examination was not able to understand what the passage was about.

Any seniors remember “The little girl” from 9th ncert English? I’m graduating from 8th to 9th grade and I bought books in advance, and seeing that lesson made me puke in my head. For those who don’t know, this story is about a girl called Kezia. Her father constantly abuses and beats her, and she is completely traumatized and afraid of him. But later on they paint the father as a good person by a huge passage that basically says “the father was just stressed, that’s why he beats her. So he’s a good person” (it’s not said literally in the book, but this is the correct meaning of the passage. Also, 12th graders, know “Ranga’s marriage”? My cousin sister hates that lesson, because it promotes pedophilia. I think the English ncert authors smoke weed whenever they write/take stories for ncert.

I knew this was coming while writing the exam itself I wonder how such nonsense even got approved in the first place I don't think the person who set this paper even works with cbse

This is so stupid!!😡 And to top it off they r saying women shouldn't be mothers and have careers while many teachers are mothers as well as teachers who have probably made this exam!!??? Like wtf!!??

THANK YOU for putting this out here! It was needed. The paper was absolutely horrible and disgusting. And yes, what's more disgusting is that this was allowed to be put out by the cbse board and teachers! HOW?!! WHY?!!...............it makes my jaw drop to know that several people looked at this and said "Yeah that's definitely something 15 years old should read ."

how many people's mentality had got affected, who gona take the responsibility now??? shouldn't they be releasing a press clip of them stating how problematic is that? shouldn't they be conducting seminars in schools correcting that passage and specifically talking about how that's not right? like that's bare minimum, least do that cbse😭

I gave the paper! Although I scored 8 on 8, it was fkn misogynistic… I am already aware of these thing but this stereotypical passage just got my mood off.

I still can’t forget how many grammatical mistakes class 8th cbse science textbook and they try to make such a difficult exam paper?..

I'm in class 9th rn and have a lot of senior friends from class 10 and when they(the set 1 people) told me about this passage i was baffled like cbse are u in your right mind? Who even prepared the paper I-

Honestly at first reading the first para in exam time I thought that it was shown of earlier today times but I still was like whattt but then when it came to the third para I was like what what are they actually writing and I spend almost half an hour at this only like understanding what they really meant like man this english paper was really the worst like the para also and the answer key provided had so many wrong questions even the my english school teacher also said that she was really disheartened seeing this paper like they are actually doing something like this and that too in board paper like whattt

Is it really hard for atleast one of those the hundred teachers involved in setting the question paper to question why such a controversial passage is given in an exam that millions of children of ages 16 to 17 write?? Really?? Is it really that hard to just think for a second?? Its almost laughable coz CBSE has been managing the education of millions of students and setting question papers for many many years and this shows how "good" of a job they do and how "sincere" they are with their work. CBSE really doesn't give two shits about students unless they're pressured to do so and that's a fact🤐

When I read the first paragraph , I was mildly surprised , but I kept going as I thought they were going to produce counter arguments to these sexist notions . But I kept reading and yeah that didn't happen . I was disappointed but not surprised as CBSE had already made idiotic exam schedules ( Who gives a week off for an English exam but only one day for math and science ? ) but I didn't discuss it with my friends until school reopened . When it did all of them agreed and one of my male friend said that his parents were planning on changing his little bro to State Board ( I don't blame them tbh ). Aren't they distributing papers all over India ? Is this the responsibility they show ? Even my second language paper seem to be set so carelessly. It was easy but they just asked questions from unit one mostly when we had three whole units to study , and the passage had a wrong answer in it. Don't get me started on Math . I was also one of the lucky few who got Set 4 as other students that were not from my town had got Set 1 , 2 , etc. And they had come home and cried . My mom's friend's son was incredibly sad and disappointed after seeing his paper ( he's in 12th ). I have lost faith in this education system . In my State , the State Government schools have hard portions. But at least they have sensible people running their education boards !

this is utter carelessness . in all the board papers either there was a printing mistake , the question papers were given late , the grammar was incorrect and the answer key was always wrong . after all of this how can we even expect to get a " correct " result of what they call a VERY IMPORTANT EXAM for our EDUCATION they are trying to give ?

only legends read the paragraph to answer the few questions and forget about it the next day. kids spend time trying to learn the inner meaning of the para in the mid of a board exam where very limited time is provided

I was so damn furious when I was reading the passage. I even had to opt the right options which are misogynistic. I basically had to think like a misogynistic person to answer the questions..
