You guys are right to feel angry. I've been following Covid-19 since 2019. I can safely tell you that both countries work differently. In the West, you're free to spread misinformation to get a lot of good people killed by turning them into anti everything. All in the name of freedom. In China, citizens trust their government by working collectively with them. This is why you never heard nursing homes deaths rate are spiraling out of control because nobody took extreme measures to protect them. Western media is the biggest culprit. Have yall notice they only focused on the negatives? They did this to their county and they never show us a solution to protect ourselves from the virus. That's freedom of misinformation for ya. Notice all the cases reported in Shanghai (280,000) , but zero death? What do you think it's keeping them alive? Hint: Chinese vaccine. Now compare to this. The U.S. has surpassed 750,000 COVID-19 deaths, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.. ☺️

Now you see why Hong Kong protest against this regime some years back.

I can't imagine going through COVID like this. I'm a two year long hauler and even been at home was a rough ride. *China needs to be held accountable for what it started and with whose money.*

I'm abroad but my relatives are all still in Shanghai. It's bad there. Even my communist party member uncle is complaining. He said the quarantine now is no longer about scientific rationale, what happens now is all based on political orders from above. This mess has done some major damage to the party image.

Own home? This is a public rental house provided by the government. The residents have been notified in advance to move to another residence. Does not mean that the government cannot take it back? The premise is that it has been notified!

They are putting them in detention camps, schools, gyms etc and taking their kids away. No food water or proper bathrooms and the kids piled in nurseries crying and only 1 to 2 nurses. Can you imagine your kids taken away and you have no idea what's happening to them? Shameful!

As what I know, the reality isn't what you think. There are too few people, like 10% to 20%, living in the apartments they rent from the government, so the government decided to move them into a single building or so there, and turned other buildings to quarantine centers. Of course people don't like it and it's bad, but it's really not too strange.

Its not a lack of willingness, it's just that they are kind of busy trying not to start world war three, and they have solved the covid problem already by vaccinating their populations with actual vaccine that works. CCP is a dinosaur. It needs to go so China will stop being held back by it. See the problem with communism is it actively makes sure its citizens aren't empowered by being taught to think for their own selves because if they did the CCP would be gone.

People say that some of us are abusive towards the Chinese people because we are blaming them for this pandemic,, but what is ABUSIVE is the Chinese government for not looking after the lower income people . It's ABUSIVE that they are pouring all this MONEY INTO THEIR MILITARY while there are people living in HORRIBLE conditions like animals. People having the wet markets and the unsanitary conditions of them because that was all the could afford. Some people having to live in close proximity to their live stock because they couldn't afford better housing ! 😢😢, All of this could have been prevented if something was done much earlier on !!!

I am one of these 25 million residents here in Shanghai. My lockdown day 22. I am consuming food and essentials as little as possible not knowing how long it will last. My wife and new-born baby are in another city, knowing that they are at least do not have to go through that. But I am not very positive for the future if the policy goes like this, and any normal day in any city may turn into a lockdown. In my opinion, China in my eyes split into two. Before and after Covid. Before, as living in Shanghai since 2016, you can access to anything, life is easy, it's an international city, you can make good money and people are very friendly towards foreigners. I had some of my greatest time here, as enjoying and working at the same time, I got married to a Chinese wife too. Life has only little changed since Covid started, Shanghai hasn't done any lockdowns, I did 4-months of online teaching and continue face-to-face classes since June 2020 as it was like Covid is not existed. When the rest of the world was struggling, seemed like China controlled everything, as it does for mainly anything. I feel like the govt felt more confident and 'prove' to their citizens that they can do better than any other 'Western' countries. Here, democracy of West has been questioned, the attitude of 'rebel' foreigners to Covid restrictions has been condemned, and so on and so forth. Obviously, the government maintained its authority fully. People in Shanghai, including me, really didn't anticipate such a long lockdown. You can easily see it people were not ready, as they haven't done much stock ups of food or any other essentials. Locals are not happy at all, as they started to lose patience the government's approach of Omicron variant. They did nothing but cooperate for whole this time. Seems like though, they cannot do anything concrete. Any negative posts in the social media will be removed. Personally, my views are already changed against the govt after Covid has started. I do have an Australian citizenship, and I am planning to leave the country when the right time comes.

@@jasonyao6015 China doesn't have freedoms though. If there was freedom in China freedom to protests would be allowed. Freedom of press would be allowed. Freedom of religion would be allowed (which its not because look at the Uyghur Muslims). In the US we have the freedom to basically do anything so long as it does not infringe upon the rights of another person. So you can't call for violence to be carried out on someone and you can't commit an act of violence against someone else. You can't do things that the other person didn't consent to. In China the government decides what you will do and how you will do it.

I lived through the horrifying Shanghai lockdown last year. The psychological and mental damage of such trauma still saddens me. I’ve managed to leave the country. Although I’m not scared of the government anymore, deep in my heart, don’t ever want to return either.

Stop two standard report！In all cases Shanghai are going to better!For the overall benefit, individuals need to give up some interests. We people are willing to do that! And we do not want millions of people died for Covid-19.

It seems like Covid or blaming Covid is a powerful tool for keeping people fearful, obedient, and submissive whenever the party thinks it might be a good idea- or when they think people need to be broken. I am glad to see the resistance!

Day 30th in lock down and the mental torture is driving me crazy. I've got used to not having enough food, but everyday I am scared of being test positive. The COVID itself doesn't scare me, but I am scare of going to the quarantine centers as the living condition there is terrible - no proper hygiene, no shower place, leakage due to rain, very very dirty toilet, etc etc. The government is forcefully turning more and more normal places into quarantine centers. I can't believe people can be kicked out their home for this mad matter!

I've only been in lockdown 17 days, but I understand how you feel. Like you, my worst fear is to test positive. The whole thing is insane! 220,000 cases in Shanghai now. Only 4.4% have any symptoms at all. The rest don't even know they got infected. According to Xinhua News, only 9 people in Shanghai are seriously ill. No deaths. At least let those without symptoms quarantine at home.

let me tell your the damn truth, 1. the 1st video, the apartment is not bought and owned by these people, which are discounted rent by gov for their working in Zhangjiang (place of video shooting). You know what, these guy fully re-rent these apartments to other people and make money. When gov asked for temporary move from here, gov gave them another place for living 6 months free. Why these people resistant? Because they lose money that not owned by them!!! 2. Another video of what you see many people standing and shouting is totally another story, in this video they are requesting to not use the junior school for intermediate transporting the infected people. It's very selfish, because many school are used for this purpose, and all our people are suffering. To defeat the virus again, we should not just care about ourself, we should dedicate and unite. Why BBC always combine the video and transmit the gabbage, your media should tell the truth but not propoganda your shitty ugly mind!!!

it never ceases to amaze me the insane desire some people have to subjugate others, all these laws beeing passed left and right is just the noose beeing tightened on the general masses, and the problem begins when it normalizes and people start to accept it. i see this shit happening everywhere, honesty, decency and compassion is slowly dying, atleast when it comes to our modern system of governance.

Shanghai is the most westernized city in the CCP. It's like NYC but cleaner, everything is expensive. Western brands are everywhere, Shanghainese are used to modern western lifestyle. If there's another tienamen even, this might be the city. I spend a lot of time in Shanghai from 2009 to 2013, including 1 month during London Olympics. The 1 major protest I witnessed was in Guangzhou, watching the streets from my 11th floor apartment, packed with angerry people chanting to protect about a disputed island .I was 😱

It's difficult to take your question seriously. If places are needed for quarantine facilities then someplace will be provided for those who are moving. It's not like they are allowed to wander the streets during the lockdown, that's the whole point in the first place. The question is not even a worthy question. Where are they supposed to go? That place was known to authorities before they needed to create quarantine housing. Those being moved most certainly have a place to go, you are being overly dramatic because you are a typical victim of the media and their never-ending China-bashing. It's not great in Shanghai right now, that is certain but for you to imply people are being forced out of their homes with no place to go is just not even worth a serious response and so I say, " You can't be serious!" You overplayed your hand, which was;t a good hand in the first place.

I had Omicron in mid-January. My parents had it too. My father, 69y/o, has COPD (terrible smoker’s lungs). Not vaccinated. Nothing more than a bad flu with high temperature for him. My mother was the same but recovered faster. My bout was very mild, oscillating between a head cold and sore throat. My partner also had it recently and had the fever and head cold. He was laid up for a few days. I didn’t catch it again from him, so natural immunity is working! His parents both vaccinated, his mother recently booster for the second time (4th covid vaccine in 12 months!) due to cancer diagnosis caught it but was also mild. She was worse after the latest booster! In my opinion, if my dad was fine it is nothing to be afraid of (for the majority). My parents believe they had the very same illness in December 2019, all the same symptoms. We live in Ireland and I have heard a lot of anecdotal evidence indicating Covid-19, or something like it, was around a lot earlier than the global lockdowns were implemented in March 2020. It seems most who get into any difficulty with it now are very elderly and/or have more than one co-morbidity. Of course, there is debate about it all and a open discourse on the matter should be allowed, especially now that we seem to be on the other side of it now (in Europe that is!).

Vaccine passports ect were never about keeping anyone safe from start to finish this was all.about control..
