We didn't know what we were going to get. My father-in-law and I went to the Juke Joint Festival this past April with two things in mind: Enjoy the music, and film whatever and whoever we could. We wanted to soak up the festival and see if we could make something out of the footage afterward.
That weekend we interviewed whomever agreed to it, and we were surprised at some of the results. Most everyone was excited to talk to us, share their music, their art, their lives. And what we discovered in Clarksdale itself was a story larger than we could ever capture or tell in one weekend.
We're planning on going back next year.
And, of course, many, many thanks to all the artists who allowed us to talk with them and film them perform.

Wonderful‼️
This is real blues of a great bluesman.Beautifull music,
My wife and I were just there in Clarksdale. Did the blues trail. You can hear the blues pouring out of these people. We stayed at the shackup inn for a week. What a great experience. Just the best trip of my life.

What do you figure that whole trip to Clarksdale cost for you and your wife for a week? Just curious, I'm thinking about going there in the future.

@@johnallen2771 That's a good question, John - did he ever reply? Did you ever get there yourself? I just saw (Dec '22) that you can book rooms at the Shack Up from $80 - $250 per night. I'm thinking about a visit in March '23 or '24.
Very well done video. Drew me in.
❤❤❤
Been there five times, can't get enough..

What's the name of the song you are playing? Love the sound and use of voice!
Yes, that's Mississippi Gabe Carter. Cool guy. We'll be featuring him on another Clarksdale video we're putting together right now from Juke Joint 2013.

That's what I thought too but at the same time it was their EP of Junior Kimbrough songs that got my attention.
Superb video! Check out my choices of places to visit in Clarksdale! Love the place!
I think it's Gabe Carter.
Interesting - is the white guy playing Junior Kimbrough song at the start?

No brother. It's a jam tune he chose to play, I've never heard it on one of Gabe's albums. This song is probably the perfect sound from him I believe.
17:38 - Can someone find this man? I'll be in Clarksdale soon and I need to meet him! and, though this is old, so may have already happened, but I can help his project get seen? Would love anyone to let me know Michael's whereabouts

He's Deak Harp. He's been there every time I've been to the festival. Wanted to interview him, but never got the chance.
