First off i think it’s her will and guts that makes her the legend she is. For about almost 2 rounds elkin really used the grown to show it was her domain and this was also one of shields first matches in the mma and she didn’t shy away. Like “Kobe mamba mentality” she went straight for I.T right at elkin letting her know this might be my weakness but I’m that dog that my weakness I won’t be allowed to make me falter. And she beat her at her own game in the same way and she purposely did that. She not like a rampage Jackson or kimbo slice she’s a different breed from them as dominant strikers. She showed even out of her specialty she can get it done any way needed! Champs win ugly and unconventionally and she fiercely went into winning that way I think this is a real statement win for her even with the room to grow

Because she's a boxer, not an MMA fighter. She's coming in with a disadvantage. If boxers want to fight MMA fighters it should be in a new middle ground sport called Rumble. Boxing with elbows, knees, hammerfisrs, 6 Oz gloves, extended clinches, and a smaller ring that allows for more brawling. But no kicks. Eight 2 minute rounds. Rumble will allow us to see who the best mid range fighters are.

Boxer's stamina is real.. Claressa wasn't worn down from being on her back like Brittney hoped would happen.. Claressa's punching power is real as her ground game picks up she's going to be a nightmare... The fact ALL fights starts standing, just makes her that much more of a problem..

She’s a legit bad ass! Her striking technique is beyond elite, the way she turn her hips and creates power in a short cross and even her jabs is amazing. That curb stomp she pulled off with 1:57 left in the video was lighting fast and shows her potential of striking with her legs “ even though it was an illegal kick but she is new and they didn’t call it so good on her”. If she would have started training in mma 10 years earlier she would be a monster.

@@alexcasillas6973 lol.. Exactly.. these are humans, Not perfectly flawless machines (*Claressa, in particular) they need time to properly develop. *If the boxer (Claressa Shields) brings in New New Boxing fans to MMA
When I see Claressa Shields, I can't help but smile. She's so young and so confident and goes for it like her life depends on it. I'm so proud of her ability to back up her words. She bad!!!
Almost shed a tear when she yelled to her mom 🥹🥹
That was an awesome debut. She was thoroughly tested by a vet. Elkin would have won most matches with those take downs. Clarissa will learn a lot from this one. Future Champion

I was actually surprised by the outcome. It looked like it would go the other way. But she really tested herself here and found a way through. Hats off to Elkin for putting up a good fight.

Very entertaining fight! Great effort by both women. Claressa is one tough lady!
I want that camera! That image is brilliant! Oh and I ❤ T-Rex
She is very impressive in her debut! Very hard hitting, standing or ground, beat a very good fighter!

Elkin is an average fighter. Shields is a better fighter, even as a novice fighter.
That was INTENSE! Like the goddes of thunder in person! I hope i can see Clarissa live. RESPECT!👍
That was amazing!! 👏🎉Way to Go Shields!! And Britney is one tough cookie
"Mama Mama" love it. Great fight. Both of them went hard.

She was definitely scared and I don't blame her ... she got much respect for staying in the fight and giving it her all .. shit more than her all she summoned something deep down
Exactly what I’ve always wanted to see a boxer in MMA cause I love MMA and boxing, but when I watch MMA I see so many openings in the MMA fighters game that I knew a well seasoned boxer would easily counter and Clarissa shields just showed that. The punch combination to the leg coming from Elkin immediately followed be a straight and hook to the top. That’s 🔥🔥🔥

@@heathjohnston4352 obviously needs more training MMA ain’t all about throwing punches this fight alone tells. But my point is incorporating boxing iq in MMA makes for a good counter when needed ✌️

Isn’t that what Holly Holm was and is though? A multiple time world champion who was much better immediately when she made the transition, and who topped out as a champion in the UFC? The advantage Holm had though is that she had also been a kickboxer/Muay Thai champ, which has always translated better to the cage than straight boxing.

Same thoughts..improve her ground game, and incorporate a few kicks.. then she will be RAW
That comeback was epic. I was too hype!!!!
Clarissa wasn't even very experienced in that fighting style and STILL pulled that off! Her hands are ferocious! Elkin didn't want no fist to fist action so she kept shooting in and grappling. She even had and armbar applied, but Shields is very powerful and she just yanked out of it. Ive never seen a fighter do that, male or female! IMPRESSIVE debut!!! She gets that ground game down pat, every MMA fighter is gonna think twice about messin with her! The real deal she is
This victory just brought tears to my eyes
I love this girl ...that part calling MAMA MAMA made me cry oooh shiiit....what a pure soul
I really want to see Claressa try MMA again, she's such an icon and a legend to women's sports, also from my state.

@@Dmvgold1995 I agree 💯. She s got pop in both hands too. And that is the only thing that saved her in her 1st fight. Did not save her in her 2nd. But she puts in the work and she could get there. She is a very hard worker. But I need to see more before I am all in on her MMA career. Boxing all in, MMA, time will tell. Hope she does well though.
