I think this is the sanest thing Clara has said. Although mind reading would be a good super power for certain occupations like lawyers, interrogators and therapists. Terrible at every other aspect of life. I'd use mind reading for games like Chess or Yugioh but that would be cheating. Would ruin the fun of it

The thing about a relationship is that your partner will never be your perfect dream partner, it’s literally impossible. But a healthy relationship is built on shared experiences and values, you can technically be more attracted to someone else physically but that shouldn’t be the main factor in your relationship. If it was always the most important factor literally nobody’s relationship would be stable

Oh i know what horrors await me - i'd rather know those intrusive thoughts and have pure honesty instead of platitudes and flat out lies. Seeking perfection in another person is unrealistic and will make you much unhappier than accepting that teh rest of the world is just as, if not more effed up than you in instrusive thoughts.

So... Clara wants a politician, journo or a salesman as a husband.

I always think about this when the topic of mind reading comes up: yeah we can read it, but can you understand it? I always imagine someone else's brain to be assorted mess only they know how to decode. Like you knowing where your keys are in your messy room

Mind reading is definitely a bad choice. For me, the ideal power would probably be shapeshifting.

I've never wanted mind-reading as a super power, seems like a boring power compared to flying or invisibility. And it would take away any fun from human interaction.

I would just take the suffering, I always do. However if I had the powers I wouldn't conceal them from a friend or significant other anyway, I wouldn't tell just anyone about them because I wouldn't want to be abducted or exploited by shady powerful organizations, but I would need to tell people close to me because it seems too much like betrayal otherwise and I cannot live like that.

that's thinking too small. Mind read some bank account and investment password, job interview, catching criminal, uncover state secret. Economic value of mind reading goes far above than just worrying about people's opinion. significantly more.
