Nope, there is nothing in the blood or in the soul or anything magical like that, it's just we are exposed to it from the moment we are born. Anyway, watch any live tv show where there's a song in 7/8 or 9/8 the audience can't clap for shit. Maybe every 10th guy can do it.

Milos Janic no one actually thinks that the expression "flows in our veins" literally. He is just used to that rhythm since he was little and impressionable, because it's his culture. Fucking no one in their right minds thinks they were born with a gene that makes them count in odd time

@@jameygoldberg it’s actually 7/4 but it’s VERY disputed. It’s actually quite difficult to tell 7/4 and 7/8 apart since they are so similar. But yeah moneys in 7/4 & 4/4

The first # is the number of beats in the measure, the second is which note value gets the beat. So 7/8 is 7 notes per measure with the eighth note getting the beat. So, kinda, but no at the same time.

The time signature informs the music reader how a passage of music is meant to sound. So although the two time signatures add up to the same division, they may sound different when played in a piece of music. Also, it may look less confusing on sheet music if the composer wrote 7/8 instead of 3/4, 4/4.

The “8” indicates to the musician the duration of each count. If I told you to count to seven couple times, you wouldn’t know how to quickly or slowly I’d want you to count. I’d need to tell you the tempo (bpm) and how long of a gap between each number (1…2…3). “8” represents the type of note, which is called an 1/8th note (or quaver in the UK) Hope this helps!
