Claire Saffitz Makes Coffee Coffee Cake | Dessert Person
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Claire Makes Coffee Coffee Cake | Dessert Person. Most cakes are delicious when eaten with a cup of coffee, but what’s even more delicious? A cake that tastes of coffee itself! This coffee coffee cake has a light, silky crumb and a brown sugary flavor that’s perfectly offset by the bitter notes of brewed and instant coffee, which find their way into all three components - the batter, ribbon, and crumb topping. Watch Claire as she makes this new-classic cake from Dessert Person.

I’m just assuming she didn’t proof the recipes with a fine toothed comb after the ghost writer was done translating all the random recipe cards and additions and clarifications Claire added, they tested then complied the recipes in quite a hurry it seems.

Although I think reading the ingredients wasn't her favorite part, I think in one of her videos she didn't wanted to read the ingredients and you could hear the director telling her "Say it". But I believe these are in fact her favorite recipes since she wrote the book, so all of them are her favorites.

I just made it, it’s one of the softest cakes with the most delicate crumb texture I’ve ever made. Mind you,I’m French and we don’t usually cream the butter with sugars and then alternate wet and dry mixtures, so this was a nice thing to try. I would definitely advise to get the strongest brew you can get your hands on, and maybe double the quantity of ribbon or double the amount of coffee crystals you add to it so that the flavor of that sweet sweet ribbon shines through. I’m gonna leave you now, I have an entire cake to eat by myself (I told my boyfriend I took half of the cake to my colleagues, it’s not true, I ate half of the cake in a day).

i made this and it turned out amazing! a few notes: - i didn’t have sour cream at home so i used yogurt + a tiny bit of vinegar instead, and i didn’t notice any strange variations in texture or taste. - i halved the crumb topping because i didn’t want the cake to be too sweet, and there was just enough for it to still add to the taste and texture of the cake. - for people that don’t like the taste of coffee, the amount of coffee in this coffee cake wasn’t overpowering at all. imo the addition of instant coffee helped enhance the overall flavor. i will definitely be making this again! would highly recommend :)

I'm a "once in a blue moon" type of baker and let me say, this was so easy to follow and fun to make. I halved the recipe, which fit perfectly in a standard loaf pan. I also used a hand mixer instead. It resulted in the softest/fluffiest cake I've every had! Definitely adding this to the recipes arsenal!

every cake you make is a cake made with love, and I love and appreciate that.
Claire is A-DO-RA-BLE. I love the way she handles the kitchen, she's not afraid of making mistakes and does not try to hide them. This is the integrity of character. She is also light on her mannerisms, which tells me she is fun to be with. On top of the nice personality traits, she is also an excellent professional, everything around her shows this easily. And her book is amazing! Love her!
For anyone who doesn’t have a mixer but really wants to try this recipe, I’ve made this by hand and it looked and tasted good to me! Just make sure you have a nice big whisk 😁 and strong arms. The cake has a lovely feathery light texture, while the crumb provides a wonderful contrasting crunch (I mixed in chopped pecans). I’m actually a lazy baker but this was so good, I made it twice in two weeks-something I have *never* done before.

I've never agreed with something more than when claire said that more desserts should taste like coffee
All I want is hours and hours of Claire Saffitz baking content so please keep it coming!
I have made this recipe twice! it is AMAZINGLY delicious worth every dirty bowl used!!!!! My husband and children love it. I really thought the coffee amount would overpower the overall flavor of the cake but the coffee quantity is spot on! Thank you Claire Saffitz for sharing this outstanding recipe.
Yay! The last time I'm this early Claire was still having a mental breakdown tempering chocolate...
Finally a coffee cake recipe that ACTUALLY has coffee in it 😂
Made this for Christmas for my family. Having the book and video together really helped. They were amazed by the coffee ribbon running through it
I just made this for my husband's birthday. He isn't a fan of cakes and only makes an exception for the "hostess coffee cakes." I thought what would be better than to have the queen of gourmet makes teach me how to make a delicious coffee cake from scratch. It turned out amazing! I used grams instead of cups because weight > volume. I will definitely make this many more times. Thanks Claire!
I imagine Claire’s neighbors lining up in the hallway like Stanley and Michael on Pretzel Day from the office. “Na uhn Mrs. Sally get to the back, no butting in line”

This is an amazing recipe! I made it today in a nine inch pan. The recipe was halved and I cut white sugar by 50%. The end result is a mildly bitter cake with warm cardamom flavour, tasting very fancy and expensive. Love this recipe a lot! Thank you so very much for sharing this!
Every other time I somehow manage to bake something then like a week later Claire releases the video! I finally got to see the video first and this will probably be the best one yet!
The fact that Claire gave a Buffy reference completed my life.
I really love the opening song, I sing along to it each video 😊
Received Dessert Person for Christmas and made this as my first recipe. Both the hubby and I loved it!
So, clearly, all of these were shot on the same day. That is actually insane. Good Job, Claire!
"more desserts should taste like coffee." couldn't agree more!
I’m still so excited that Claire has her own channel now!
Made this today....it is the best coffee cake I've ever tasted!!! So much flavour!!! Thanks Claire!!!
Claire, I just finished reading your book and I love it. It is the first time I wanted to start baking with the first recipe and bake my way through the book. Thank you!
I baked this cake the other day and it is definitely going to be my go-to coffee cake! I baked a 9x13 pan full of cake and I was blown away by how well this cake can be frozen. I cut the cake into 9" long pieces and put them in the freezer in ziplock bags. To thaw it, I just remove the pieces from the ziplock bags and cut 9" long pieces into smaller pieces, and leave them to thaw on the counter. They taste just as soft as the day I baked them.
I love that Claire felt the overwhelming need to patiently explain what Folger's instant coffee is.

Claire, thank you for being yourself.... Buffy references and wanting everything to taste like coffee are bonuses! PS: while we didn't use your recipe (dietary restrictions) this inspired me to ask for coffee cake for my birthday
I made this last night for valentines day for my boyfriend! One of the best things I've ever baked, it was a huge hit. For some reason my crumb topping was more of a dough so I had to break globs off and plop them on the batter, but it still tasted perfect 😊😊😊
