I find it really helpfully that Claire (and the whole of BA) explain the reasoning for taking certain steps, rather than just doing something and not explaining why, it really helps with baking and cooking!!

Claire is seriously such a gem. She is so informative, so descriptive. She’s an incredible teacher and has a wonderful character. Such a lovely lady!!

It was 11pm here the Philippines and I decided to make this. It's now almost 3 in the morning. The cake is done. I will be making the icing tomorrow. And my God, the cake itself tastes lovely! Guys, you should make this. The recipe is easy and the ingredients are all easy to find.

They are expensive but this thing has lasted for YEARS and a good stand mixer is a great investment for someone who is in the kitchen a lot or just likes baking for fun.

I made this without the frosting and this is the best cake I've ever eaten. Perfect recipe! Loved it!

Made this for the second time. I couldn’t sleep and was bored. I ended up with a freshly baked cake.

I'm a 2 week old baker. I started the addiction by watching cooking/baking shows for years. Then i found BA and have religiously watched these. Especially Claire, and Brad. Yesterday i bought myself a Valentine's day gift of a Kitchenaid stand mixer...the exact one used in this video. I love when they do everyday things 😊 It would be awesome if they made a series for things people usually take the shortcut on, ie box cake, or relatively simple things like scrambled eggs, and show where there's a way to make it so much better with really simple changes. And add the science like she does here. I feel like I learn to be a more intuitive cook if I know why things interact with each other the way they do. Bonus points if they let Claire do it, this girl needs a break from gushers and cheetos 😁

Will no lies here

I tried a chocolte version of this cake (just replacing about 10% of flour with cocoa powder) and it came out pretty well, the texture is a bit denser and heavier than regular butter cake or pound cake and it is a bit less moist but it depends of course on how much you beat the batter (I used hand mixer) and how much time you bake. I think 45 min. baking is a bitt too long, it obviously depends on each oven.

Claire is the best demonstrator. Not silly and very clear. She also has a nice vocal timbre.

OMG CLAIRE AGAIN! So happy but can't help feeling sad because it will probably end :(

Claire i have been watching your videos for a bit now purely for entertainment. you have a great personality. It is my sons birthday is tomorrow so i am attempting to bake for the first time not from a box. cake is in the oven now. thanks for the great content. keep up the good work!

I'm halfway through but I have to comment. THANK YOU CLAIRE!!! So many really helpful tips, the method, adding a few tbsp oil, this cakes usefulness for layered cakes, the oven temp and why. My cakes are going to be awesome this year!

Sydney Parker its a quart container. Its a disposable container that is often used in kitchen prep. I use to use them for my station as a saute chef. Things like scallions, shallots, grated cheese, procuitto, etc. They also make ideal drinking cups because of there size and availability. I use to make a strawberry lemonade spritzer and then put the lid on and cut a slit for my straw. Spill proof so no worry of it getting in the food you cook.
