I love CJRB products. The Feldspar is an excellent example of their wonderful work.
While I can’t deny the good looks and quality of your dye work, I actually like the natural G10 color. Thanks for the review!

Lol, that’s totally fair!! I’ve got a couple knives in natural G10 that I intend to keep that way forever, it does look nice. But it soaks up the dye so well, lol. Thanks for watching brother. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
8:33 Just got mine thanks to your video. The one I got, they made the 2 screws flat for the pocket clip and they put 4 holes in the liner reducing it to 3.8oz. Loved it.
Sean your a natural!!!!!! Yo that color on that boker is nuts!!!!!!

The royal purple on that knife reminds me of the “plum” furniture they make for AK-47’s. Thumbs up!
The dye job looks great Sean. I like the look of this model. I may have to pick up one of the smaller model. Really dig that red Boker!

Hi Ginger, thanks for watching! Yeah, CJRB is doing a great job! I’m glad you like the purple, I think it turned out pretty good.
looks good
Weird, I picked one up the other day fully intending on dying it and I guess google spying on me recommended this video. Very nice dye job btw. I'm thinking I might try to do a blue fade.
I ordered the same knife in jade, and I will probably keep it that color. I like to dye scales, but jade isn't a color I can come up with easily on pre-colored scales. I already have the Agave in jade, and it's becoming my favorite carry knife. No unnecessary jimping. Actually no jimping at all.
I just picked up this natural Jade (small) Feldspar and cant say enough nice things about it other than I love it, the reviews are up & down all over the place but mine is perfect in every way....all I can say is, just buy one !
You mad scientist. Purple looks good.

Hey Richard thanks for watching, I’m glad you like it!
Man, that dye job looks fantastic. The knife overall is really good looking, but the centering may be an issue, however it looks like it isn't affecting the action. Thank you so much for sharing.
@GearedTowardGear1
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Scott! Fortunately it’s off center to the left so it should work it’s way over to the right with the lock at pressing it in that direction. If it’s off center to the right that’s usually permanent. Hopefully it centers up with time and use. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
This is like a budget version of the TRM Atom. I like the look of this quite a bit.
I really liked the review of the Feldspar. Would like to eventually get 2 of them so I have 1 natural and 1 to dye. I like natural G10 not sure why. Not usually a fan of purple but that turned out very nice. The Boker Patriot really turned out great. Like that deep red. Thanks for showing the knife. You have to give a heads up when it is available.

Thanks for watching Rick! I do like natural G10 as well, I have a number of them that I’ll never dye, but it is definitely the best color to dye, it soaks up basically any color. I’ll shoot you a message as soon as I see them for sale on the major dealer websites!
Have a Talla and Cobi and I love them both. Just cut potatoes tonight for dinner with the Cobi. Need this knife now. You mentioned dyeing the scales, would love a how to on that. Dye type, time, anything for us worry-some new dyers (is that a word). Thanks for the review.
@GearedTowardGear1

Yeah I can definitely do a video on how to dye scales! It’s so much easier than I thought it would be.
A great looking knife! Thanks for sharing this one with us, Sean. With every video, I realize more and more. Especially with this knife. Just how big your hands are! For a few minutes there, I swore you must be mistaken, and had the small version with you! : - ) With that off-centering being to the left, or the lock-bar side. Some of us like to call that being 'off-center, up hill'. Meaning it's going against the pressure of the lock-bar, which is much better than when it goes the other way. With time, that one will work back to the center.

Hey Steve, thanks so much for watching. Yeah, my mits are relatively large. But proportionate, lol - I’m about 6’ 4”, 260lbs, size 14 shoe. You get the idea, lol. You’re totally right, I’d much rather have a blade be off center to the left (or uphill) than the alternative and my experience has been that which you eledided to - they typically creep toward center over time.

@@GearedTowardGear1 you have no idea how happy I am to find a reviewer who has similar tastes AND similar size to me. I'm 6'5" 270lbs and wear anywhere from 16-18 shoe depending on brand. Even the reviewers who just wear xl gloves aren't necessarily built the same way and most have wider hands as opposed to proportionate but 125% sized hands. I have to ask - who do you prefer when it comes to work gloves?
The Centros is going to be my next CJRB purchase but the Feldspar is a good looking knife. The only CJRB I own is the Crag and I'm diggin' it. Definitely worth what you pay! I can't wait to get the Centros in my hand!

You’ll definitely like the Centros. It’s fantastic!
Is that crimson or Scarlett red? I’ve got a jade feldspar coming I like the deep red
Really like the design of the Feldspar but I'd prefer the smaller one. With the 3.2" blade, it would be right down my alley size wise. As for your dye job, I'd say it's splendiferous. Really like that royal purple. I've dyed some Ganzos of mine and a small Honey Badger and I was pleased with the results using Sapphire Blue and Racing Red. When WMK gets the small Feldspar in stock, I'll have to get one in the natural G10 and experiment. Might have to get some Royal purple too. Happy New year all!

Happy New Year, William! Thanks so much for watching. And thank you for the splendiferous compliment! Lol. I have to intentionally limit myself with the dye jobs, it’s so quick and fun that it’s almost addicting. All the best!
I like the natural g10.. But I won't lie.. that purple is nice! Saw something similar on a para 2 and loved the color
Iam on KZread about Five years now!!! :D And Happy 2020 NewYear my Friends!!! :D
I definitely think I like the feldspar more than the rats just looking at their sizes. I'm also partial to the green color. Any knife is tan/coyote, black, or green gets my favor with green tones and coyote/ tans winning out over black. I really like the grind and the stock. Even though it adds weight I like having a ridged knife that can take those torsion forces that you might encounter with more bushcraft/ survival stuff. I like the grip shape because it looks like it'll prevent slipping back or forwards. Part of me misses the sight of checkering/ grip texture but thinking on it I think this benefits the knife's slick look. I'm happy to hear it has a good clip! Always a good sign. I wish there was some gimping on the liner lock for if I have gloves but it looks easy enough to do fine. Great video Sean! Glad to hear your thoughts!
@GearedTowardGear1

Hey Roman thanks for watching! Yeah man the blade grind will allow it to hold up better toward the tip for sure. Despite not having jumping or textured G10 it’s solid as a rock on account of the handle shape.

Thats one thing I look for with knives. After buying a lot of cheap knives of amazon ($15-20 knives that fall apart after a few months and hardly hold an edge) I've found plenty of things that can go wrong with a knife in the details. Grips with solid texture and/ or allow for solid purchase are a must. Another thing is wobble/ lockup. I'm happy to see this blade lock in solid without wobbling or doing anything funky. It's all basic stuff but you don't know it until you buy the tool. I like this knife, it's not my favorite but it'll stick in my memory for sure. Thank you for bringing this content to the community, can't wait to see what's up next for review! Catch you in the next one, Sean. -Roman
Well done, buddy. Appreciate the details in the review. Plus, I think a lot of us share your interest in the dye jobs. That red you used was a winner. Someone is gonna ask "which red, specifically"...... did ya use?

Good question. The purple was “royal purple” and the red was “racing red”. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
I have the Centros & my scales are purple also. I was trying to get red, but the original light blue scales turned purple after adding cherry red dye.

Hey, thanks for watching! Yeah I thought the purple turned out looking nice, glad you like it!
I like this knife. I’d dig it more if it had a little gimping on the blade. I like the shape better than the Centros, but I might like the Centros better in my hand. The touches are better on the Civivis.
I like this one and want to try CJRB but the Centros is the only one I have been able to easily get. Ordering at Full retail for these Knives at 55 plus dollars is Not budget Chinad2 price to me. There are way to many 30 dollar China d2 Knives out there to pay that much. Hope they can get it figured out in the future. Great video like always thanks for showing.

I hear ya Chad. The Centros at like $34 on SMKW is a great buy. I’m guessing this one will come on closer to $40 once it hits all the shelves. I know full well that I was overpaying, but you know me well enough to know I can be impulsive, lol. Thanks for watching brother!
Is it possible dying the scales to an almost metallic ish green? Both purple and red turned out very nice, I think the red looks the best.
@GearedTowardGear1
4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely do green, but not with a metallic look. Unless of course there are metallic dyes that I’m not aware of.
Ok man I'm gonna say it. Looks like the Three Rivers Collusion prototype. Just like I think the Centros looks similar to the build of the Atom..

4 жыл бұрын
I agree. I actually said that in a video recently, although I don’t think I’ve posted the video. For budget knives I personally would prefer 14C28N over D2. Hell I even like AUS8. Or upgrade slightly to a decent stainless steel like BD1 or BD1N. But yes, D2 is getting a bit boring.
That’s the coolest bulbous fat ass knife I’ve seen.
Love everything about this knife EXCEPT the stupid ball-bearing washers--wish they would just go away. Absolutely no real practical advantage over phosphor bronze washers--purely a hobbyist conceit for the fidget-prone.
@GearedTowardGear1
4 жыл бұрын
I don’t mind bronze washers on knives such as this. I definitely don’t need bearings on everything. I do fidget with all of my knives while I’m sitting at my desk working, so I enjoy it from time to time. Practically speaking I don’t see any advantage for an EDC knife. But I also don’t see any real disadvantages either (unless you work in a desert or environment in which the bearings will get clogged). For everyday use I see no reason to mind one vs. the other. It’s all personal preference.
@MatthewdePaula
4 жыл бұрын
@@GearedTowardGear1 The disadvantage is for hard/frequent use: not only for ingress of debris, as you mentioned, but drastically reduced contact point of the blade tang to the handle frame (the difference between the entire surface area of a washer to a thin line of of the ball bearings. So any torquing on the blade, even, for example, simply cutting through a thick cardboard box and getting the blade snagged accidentally, means that those tiny bearings with their tiny contact surfaces are taking all the force. But all of this is dissecting minutiae; ultimately, for most users (but not me), the bearings will likely function just fine and are indeed preferable due to the fidget factor.
