The price to buy your spy back is based on the spy's promotions. For example no promotion spy is 400 gold and 3 promotions (max) is 700 gold. I've also noted that the price doesn't change via the relationship with the civ that captured your spy. Just wanted to put that out there.

Also, I think that the odds that it tells you for the chance of success for offensive spy missions do not take into account an unknown spy counter-spying against you. Therefore, its often better to accomplish your offensive mission of choosing in smaller cities, where spies are less likely to be or in districts that do not have a lot of other districts adjacent to them. Thats just from my own experience in the game, where I do not have exact facts to back that up.

Not a bad idea, but the enemy AI rarely uses the counter spies. Tbh I only use them myself in multiplayer

@@RidicAcidic Counterspying is pretty damn crucial in science victories IMO, any spy that has a counterspy promotion get immediatedly sent to the space city

A very good counter spying method is to build only one neighborhood in your capital city (or any other city the AI knows the location of.) Then counterspy that neighborhood. For some reason, the AI loves recruiting partisans over literally anything else. I always try to train one spy to have quartermaster, polygraph, and seduction, then park in him in a the only neighborhood I have.

You didn't explain how you actually send a spy to a city.

Diplo Center does that!?

It does! People often don't plan ahead for it since the diplo quarter is unlocked much earlier than spaceports or even spies, but just saving a tile next to it for said spaceport will make a huge difference later
