Nice, no scarcity? Make your own scarcity, then make the residents pay for it later.

Back when Hodges was full water went east of the freeway. That area is overgrown with trees now. Bulldoze it deep and create a second reservoir. Now you can repair the main dam and remove the silt. There's a narrow spot halfway through the lake. Build another control dam there. Now you can repair any part of the three way storage system while holding most of the water. In the event of earthquakes the main dam is only under the pressure of one third of the water and can be lowered while retaining water. All dams silt up and need repair. Building in pairs would be a safe solution. Many small ponds high in the watershed can stop flash flooding and put water back underground.

Yea sureee, they just want to price gauge our water bills.

@d7622 No, we want money to be spent on repairs and maintenance for existing critical infrastructure instead of being wasted on "reparations", high speed trains to nowhere, "homeless outreach" programs for people who would rather sleep on the sidewalk and smoke crack than sober up and find employment, health insurance for the illegal aliens and public assistance for able bodied people who simply don't work, because they don't have to. It's called "setting your priorities", something at which the idiot liberal Democrats in this state have failed miserably. 😒

So we could build dams in 1918 but forgot how to maintain

We can't maintain infrastructure because dams don't vote, but welfare recipients do. Rest assured that our Democrat Party does anything and everything they can to ensure that welfare recipients, single mothers, druggies, homeless and the gender confused make it to the polls. They would even have the illegals voting if the courts hadn't blocked it. It should be clear to anyone paying attention that the Democraps are doing their best to build a majority coalition of the most helpless, useless and dependent people they can drag into a voting booth in order to maintain perpetual political power. 😐

The repairs on the dams need to be completed ASAP! All that water shouldn’t have to go to waste…

They should of just made water bills free for the rest of the year and the residents could of used it all up

Great. We finally get some water after literal years of drought, and they just let it all go

hear me out for a second....if we pay to fix the dams now, we won't have to pay for someone else's water later......still laughing that most of the dams in San Diego were built 100 years ago and then never maintained.

Then FIX these dams! Put our money into critical infrastructure and stop spending OUR money on wasteful fantasy land projects.

Released ... Billions of gallons, on a 'maybe' ... As in, the dam 'may fail', but we don't really know ... WTF???

The responsibility for this lies squarely on the mayor and the city council who have FAILED to maintain the dam. They blame it on being 100 years old but there are other dams the same age that are in great condition. Why? Because they were properly maintained and not left to fall apart like Lake Hodges Dam.

So no drought then? 🤷‍♂️

I've been waiting for this issue to be publicized. Now that more people are aware I hope that we can finally address the issue. The city of Escondido is already working on a new dam for Lake Wohlford so why can't the city of San Diego do the same?

Well why dont just make another water resorvoir nearby that can connect to that one instead of wasting billions of gallons of water then soon will be in a drought again doesn’t make sense !!! Do something about it !!!

Years and years of low water levels, perfect times for doing maintenance on these dams,but nothing. And now water wasted by state decree. Sounds like planned failure to me.

I gave every city in a water shortage a perfect solution. For industrial use, in ground tanks. Save the rain water give it a perfect ph and you are all taken care of. Homeowners could utilize above ground tanks for all watering needs. Why do you not listen?

Re-build the dams !

The people in our counties management of everything are inept, incompetent and their lack of a second backup storage area just proves they haven't any ability to look beyond today. How hard would it be to use the infrastructure $$ to construct other ways to harbor that water. An aqueduct that connects to the 5 other reservoirs is what we need. It would actually show that the $$ allocated to us was for us. Of all the $$ doled out to improve our loves, I see nothing to show for it. Trash everywhere. Roads that are in need of repair. Sewage from TJ. Democrats need to go. We need fresh eyes and ideas. And term limits on everything. Our country's representatives have no interest in what you want. It's all about global, no local or national interest. Time to clean house.

Send money to foreign countries&wars, let this country suffer drought or flooding. Where is the $3 Trillion Plan for Infrastructures!!!!?
