I made the mistake of mulching tall grass and weeds into the lawn many years ago. The mulch got very hot in the summer sun and killed the lawn. Ended up having to reseed the entire yard. I won't make that mistake again.

Just looking at the retaining walls alone, someone at one time had put a lot of care and effort into making this a pretty little home and for whatever reasons (health, financial, etc.) is no longer able to maintain it the way they once did. It's touching to see someone take the time to revive it back to some of its former beauty!

I don't think any cities anymore actually send anybody out to do this kind of cleaning up yards because it's probably too expensive for them to do so. If you look at any City Crews doing work it takes like 12 people to do one thing. That's why I do appreciate what this man is doing. Now I know not all cities are like that but a lot of are.

As someone who rides a motorcycle, I want to not only thank you for doing this to help these people, but also for not spitting the clippings into the street where they could cause a bike to wreck. Thank you.

I agree. I hate when people blow all their cut grass and trimmings out in the street. It’s like sweeping the floor in your house and emptying the debris in your neighbor’s living room.

Sherilyn - as long as he has asked permission of the resident, and they agree, he is then "an invitee" and can proceed. No trespass.

What a transformation. It is a shame that neighbors don't run their mowers over their next door neighbor's yard when they are doing their own. Maybe the owner has gone to nursing home, or died even. Yeah I have never figured out why neighbors don’t lend a hand I’m sure they know the story. I’m not saying weed wack and everything just the mower when you do yours. It also makes your yard look better unless your paying someone to do yours.

It cannot be easy navigating your way around a strange garden, not knowing what is hiding in the overgrown verbiage. Wires, kids toys, pet cemeteries and bits of old hoses and ornaments. I really admire what you do to help people out. When someone gets ill and has to go to hospital and then needs to convalesce, a garden can get really overgrown in no time, and is a daunting task to sit and worry about. Thank you.

I have been completely absorbed in watching It is nice that there are some people that are still willing to help people in need.

You not only help them out, you do a professional job! You don't cut corners, and look like your cutting your Grandma's lawn, with your effort! You're a hard worker, and I'm sure the homeowners feel loved!💯❤️

I really love houses like these. The front walkway was curved, there was character behind that house. All too often these cookie cutter homes are just boxes with a square front yard and no character. You made this home look inviting once again. Good job!

It appears that someone had once poured a great deal of love into that property. I wish that neighbors would at lease mow and trim the front yard, as these unkempt properties are ripe for squatters to invade. At 23:40, it appears that someone has already attempted entry through the corner window, as they’ve tried to pry the window screen.

I think people like you are awesome you go around, helping others who can’t do for themselves because of lack of income. You save people from fines and you help them out God bless you for it. As someone who has needed the kindness of a friendly landscaper when we were going through rough times, I want to say a very sincere, "Thank You!" for doing this. It is terrible to get kicked when you are down by receiving an "ordinance violation" that you cannot avoid because of illness/disability. It is because of kindness like yours that we were able to avoid fines, save our home from being foreclosed, and becoming homeless. Thank you again. So many of our seniors are lacking in human interaction since the plandemic stopped people socializing and checking on their neighbors

What kind of neighbors would let this happen? I’ll tell you. We had a cantankerous, very opinionated, elderly woman who lived down the street from us. Most of the neighbors despised her because she fed ferrel cats on her property, but the uneaten cat food would attract skunks, raccoons, and rodents. These cats would spray, fight, and defecate on the eight properties of our cul-de-sac. She finally realized the cat situation was out of control, contacted animal control, and had 21 cats removed. Problem solved, except for her ornery ways. She was well into her 80s, and I suspected not as sharp as she once had been, so I reached out a kind hand to check on her. Yes, she needed help, and had gone through a number of gardeners (mostly the mow-and-blow guys) because they said she wasn’t paying them. Her daughter was handling her finances, and swore they were being paid; however, it was later discovered that the daughter was robbing mom’s accounts for her own living expenses. Rather than get her upset with the sound of our lawn mower and trimmer, we waited for her to go to, or be taken to, lunch on Saturdays. We quickly mowed her small lawn, edged the sidewalk, trimmed whatever branches needing trimming. Sometimes, we ran out of time and quietly returned for some nighttime removal of plant debris that we’d thrown behind her fence gate. She was way too proud to admit that she needed help. What did we get out of it? Elimination of cozy spots for the skunks to return to, a tidy property at the end of the cul-de-sac, and increased property values for those of us needing to sell our houses in the coming years. BTW - She invited me into her house on a number of occasions (sometimes just for a cup of tea, sometimes just to plug in an activate a new telephone), and I was absolutely astounded by the treasure trove of antiques and museum-quality objects she had amassed when she traveled with her (now deceased) husband to various military assignments around the world. They were witnesses to so many world events that happened during post-WWII, Korea, Vietnam. They’d led amazing lives, and it turned out she was so cantankerous because he died, their closest friends had died, and her world got very small when she could no longer drive her car. I’m glad that we were able to help her out by maintaining her yard an performing minor handyman jobs that kept her home safe to live in.

I'm always glad to see that you pick up all the really long grass cutting before leaving. And that you do your job in what I think is the right order...trim /weed wack FIRST and then mow. That way all the long, trimmed stuff gets picked up and mulched with the grass, not left to smother it. Great job on using your talents to help others! ❣️

It is obvious that the original owner cared about his home, all the nice brick work.etc.. It is a shame how it has been neglected. You are at the top of your game,per usual.

I'm always so curious about the property owners, especially when it is obvious from the plants, raised beds, retaining walls etc., that at one point someone had great pride in maintaining a lovely yard. Are there no family or neighbors that can help? You provide a wonderful service for others thank you

I always had an immaculate back garden, then became unemployed and went through depression - I’m still searching for a job, but I’m tackling, but by bit, my back garden which has 16 feet hedges, weeds everywhere, oversize plants, and 4 feet tall grass. It brings me out of my depression and gives me a sense of achievement. I think maybe the people in these videos are either lazy, infirm, or too depressed to see the wood for the trees.

You are meticulous, and I like that you clean up and take away cuttings. Based on the hardscape, this yard must have been well-maintained at one time. Great job!

With houses like these I wonder if people call in "wellness checks" to make sure the owners are OK. Each situation is different but I have heard too many stories about people passing away in homes and it takes months before anyone notices and calls for a "wellness check" from the police. Love your channel and the work you do. Another job well done 👏 🙌🏽

I watch another guy who does this. While doing one of these overgrown homes he was on his taller stand on mower and actually did see the homeowner inside. Unfortunately the homeowner had passed and nobody knew.

Yes, I wonder myself are they sick, elderly, or even broke? What comes to my head is I want to know how many neighbors complained and how many offered the homeowner help? I just don’t know. A friend on mine buys properties to flip. He took pictures of the houses and all around the house and yards. He was closing on a property. During closing you are not allowed on the property to do any repairs or maintenance until you are handed the keys at closing. Two days before closing the city came out and mowed that jungle down, all around the property. The did little trimming except for around the house. None on any sidewalks, they just mowed. So he got the keys to the house and a note saying they mowed the grass and would put that on his property tax bill. He called the city and some rude woman told him that they put the grass mowing bill on the houses property taxes. He called the mayor and they said he did not owe the mowing fee. So, he got that entire jungle cut down by an eager beaver code enforcement officer who stopped by to check on the grass and found out the home had a new owner. He was mad but was thanked for having it cut because that would have cost him at least three hundred or more.

You do a great job. What is really awesome is that this video has been up for 10 months and you have 1,700,000 views! People like myself that find it somehow satisfying to watch a yard be transformed from a jungle to a civil environment. You do good work!

You definitely take pride in your work it shows. This yard looks amazing when you finished it I know the owners will be speechless.

That is a beautifully landscaped yard. You can’t imagine what has happened to folks that they’ve let it go to such a state. I have to imagine that in cases such as this one it was probably an elderly person who has been moved to a Senior Citizen Care Center. No family to help take care of the property. It then becomes a problem for the neighborhood. I hope the owner IS able to come back as soon as possible. Thanks for doing this good deed!!

I have always heard over many years that the garden dies with the grander. Makes sense since the yard looks like at one time it was very attractive. The days when people would go out and work on their yards stop and chat with each other- have outdoor cookouts or visit on the porch or deck over some baked goods and good coffee. Now that crowd is mostly gone-unable to take care of things…extended family lives too far away…my son used to drive on our mower to neighbors offering to mow their lawn.. if they tipped him that was a plus but he just wanted to help and do it for nothing. I am sure kids like that are still around but there are just too many folks who need this kind of help but can’t afford it. It is sad but a reality. This wonderful person is incredible… whoever gets lucky to have him stop and do his excellent lawn work must feel like they won the lottery. People like this will be a loss to us all when he no longer will be able to do this. Still a long ways away but it happens to us all. We need to be good neighbors and make the time to help each other no matter how small something is better than nothing.

@@sylviacrawford7195 My own yard is nearly one such case. I’ve been off my feet with an injury that has refused to heal for over 4 years now. So I haven’t been able to do the yard work like I used to. I went and bought a used rider and that worked out fine. Now it won’t start. I can’t get anyone to look at it and I’ve only been able to get someone to come and mow twice this entire summer. It needed one more mow but now the snow is here so it’s too late. The good news is that my wound is finally healing!! I hope and pray that this time it stays healed!!

I thank God for men like you who take care of those who can’t take care of themselves. Well done!

It probably comes down to this being part of the advertising budget. These free lawn jobs are meant to be advertisements for the services they provide, and hopefully the people who benefit from the free job will want to pay them to continue maintaining their yard. If you stop the stuff from growing back after a week or two by pulling the roots, those people may be hesitant to pay for the weekly service since the job was done "too well." It makes more sense to mow them down and let them grow back over the course of a week or two so it looks like a professional is actively needed to keep nature at bay. On a job like this where there is no potential customer because the house appears abandoned, there's no point in letting it grow back quickly. Just kill it completely so it at least looks presentable for a little while longer with less future maintenance work. Maybe one day the owners will show up, see his card stuck in the door frame with the note informing them what happened and who to call, and give him some business.

Unlike many ordinary and neglected places, at some point in the past this was a much-loved and very pretty little piece of property. Well done showing what used to - and still could possibly - be, Fill.

All I kept thinking was that this was someone’s treasured home. Could be the person got ill from Covid and is now convalescing somewhere. Maybe the person passed on and that property is in probate. My favorite part is that you loaded all those cuttings into your truck and hauled them away. While they are all doing a wonderful act of kindness with the free yard clean ups, so many just chop all that up with their mowers and leave it there. Kudos to you for going the extra mile!!

I love these sorts of videos. I am 71 and can't cut my own yard and do everything i want. I hire a person to do the cutting and weed eating. I plant the flowers. I feel such a melancholy when I see a house and lawn deteriorate like this. A home is filled with hopes and dreams, sadness and joy. Your returned it to a beautiful spot on 🌍

This one is sad because you can tell at one time it was beautifully landscaped. I'm glad you didn't mow down the irises.

With all these neighbors’ compliments , wouldn’t you think that they could get together and make this a neighborhood project as a good deed for the owner? If they all pitched in to take turns mowing and removing the weeds,etc, it wouldn’t have gotten this bad in the first place! This would be a “good neighbor” project that some fathers could WORK TOGETHER AND HELP A NEIGHBOR, AND teach their kids compassion for that neighbor while their kids learned to do lawn work and responsibilities at the same time. Also future employment opportunities and “ learn to earn” skills!

You deserve a Citizen of the Year Award! I am impressed by your generosity and your hard work to accomplish such a challenging job. Congratulations- you're a Great American!

It makes me smile and grateful to see people helping each other. Not only do you do a spectacular job, but I learned so much about using the tools you use properly. The before and after pictures show such a huge difference. I truly enjoy these videos. Thank you so very much for sharing them as well as doing what you do. It’s obvious that the home owner wasn’t able to accomplish this huge task. But you could. It’s a huge job that I know took several hours of long hard work. You are amazing as well a as a decent person. A great example of humanity.

My church group did that in Phoenix, the city was going to foreclose on an 85 year old man and his wife, what a lesson I learned about growing old.

There should be a recognition for people like you who selflessly donates your time and kindness to complete strangers. I have only just come across these videos where generous and kind people do wonderful garden makeovers, just because they want to. It's a heartwarming and amazing gift you give, for nothing in return. You should be very proud of the work you do for no payment. With love from Ireland 🇮🇪

I don't know if you volunteer your time to be a helpful member of society. If you do, then good for you. So what? if he gets paid for the views his videos get on KZread. That is nobody's business except him. It is also a great advertisement for his company. Again, so what?. In an age where people forget that they are actually people. It really is heartwarming to see that some people still have a shred of humanity in them. Once again. I think that people like this man should get recognition for his kindness. Isn't this a better story than reading about the badness of an entitled population.?. Have a nice day. Maybe you were hungry when you wrote this comment. I hate to ask this, but when a home looks "abandoned" like this, doesn't ANYONE (neighbors, police, whatever...) check to make sure the owner hasn't died in the house???

Another you tube lawn care guy, called the lawncare juggernaut, had exactly that happen to him. He worked what looked like an abandoned property and noticed a horrible smell coming from a back window. He called the cops and sure enough the owner had been dead for weeks in his bed. Neighbors never bothered to check on him.

And from the amount of planter boxes, this was a neighbor who at one time was highly visible to the community. The neighbors and the city must know what is going on, from the mail carrier to the people next door.

Have you given your business card to all the code enforcement officers? That way they can call you when they come across a yard like this.

I was thinking of something similar...many municipalities that have passed ordinances making it illegal for a stranger to put money in a parking meter to avoid the vehicle getting a parking citation. I suppose that next step will be an ordinance making it illegal for a stranger or volunteer to mow the grass at a residence in order to avoid the residence getting a code violation citation. You'd think it would be all about compliance but unfortunately it has turned into a revenue game.

It is often so sad to see houses like this. Obviously at one time, someone did take pride in their lawn but illness, disability or finances caught them unprepared. Many blessing for doing this.

Love watching the edging, the before and after! Love to see the beautifully edged paths, walls and kerbs! Wish I could do mine as good as that!

I appreciate that you did not just "clean up" all the edging plants (along the entry walkway & along the side of the house) and that you preserved that someone might like those plants there. Picking up the hose & putting it back where it was "safer" to be was also a wonderful touch. Thank you!

Was thinking the same thing. Too many landscapers just kill everything. I recognized the rose bush, but the next one I thought was basil for a minute, but not sure what it was. But he knew! If I had a home with money to pay someone to mow and trim the lawn, this would DEFINITELY be the guy I would hire!! Finally ... someone that won't kill the daylillies, lol!

This is the kind of guy anyone would want to do their yard. It not.good when the plants are cut down or pulled out along with the weeds.

I always watch KZread on my TV so seldom do I leave replays but I have to now. I watch many yard makeovers and hands down, you have the best channel. From weed eating BEFORE you mow and edging and not throwing all that in the yard to mow over, to taking the trimmings with you. You deserve as many subscribers and likes as you can get. Great job guy.

Sometimes, its a GOOD thing to leave the trimmings on the lawn as mulch. Keeps moisture in, conserving water, which is VERY important in the west (this is in Couer d'Alene Idaho) especially these days, and provides fertilizer at the same time while still looking neat. Sometimes, if the location gets lots of rain, or if it's over-watered, a lawn with mulch will develop fungus and other such issues. In those cases I would de-thatch the lawn, aerate it, re-set the sprinklers to shorter, less often watering, and take away the clippings for a while. The lawn in this video I would have left some mulch, based on how sparse and brown the grass was after. Mulch with grass, not weeds. Not trying to tell Fill how to do his profession, just responding to the multiple comments about how glad they are that he picked up all the cuttings. That's appropriate in some places and some yards, but not universal.

Thank heavens there are people like you who help others in this world just because. The world would be much better if more people helped one another. Hope the owner appreciate all the work you did.

I mostly watch lawn care on youtube and you are the only one who does not cut corners. Simple things likes taking the time to clean up after yourself is incredible.

Thank you for doing this. Years ago I had some hardships and was in the hospital for a prolonged period of time. You never know what people are going through.

Wow, that is a blessing in disguise. If the homeowner was not in the process of finding someone to do what you have done, and arrives and sees what you have done then I bet she would be crying tears of happiness. Keep up the good work, sir.

You taking the time to pull the weeds from the flower beds rather than just cutting deserves much respect!

What a sweet home. Once everything was cleaned up, you could tell that someone put a lot of hard work into that yard (once upon a time). You did a beautiful job.

Wow, what a transformation! A cute house. So sad you can tell someone loved their yard when they were able to work in it. Your attention to detail is amazing particularly considering what you started with and how much less could have been done if you were just trying to prevent a citation. Also appreciated just how efficiently you work. There is no wasted motion and at the same time no taking shortcuts.

I have done stuff like this for years. Mowing and snow removal, no charge, for people that were unable to do it at the time. I am the poorest and lived there longer than any other resident. How have I been repaid? I have been turned into the township for minor infractions. Codes that changed while I’ve lived there. I had to get rid of my antique truck, parked in my driveway, because I didn’t have enough time to get it fixed and inspected. Meanwhile, my next door neighbor has an antique car in pieces in his driveway. That doesn’t bother me and would never turn someone in. I now let my yard go, but still within township rules. I don’t even like how my front yard looks, so I spend most of my time in the back. I still help the neighbors who have not turned me in. Now my mower has a motor, and snow shovel has been switched out for a thrown away but fixed snowblower.

That home was once loved. Thank you for giving it some TLC.

You did a great job cleaning up this place. It's sad to see an abandoned property with no one taking care of it. It always makes you wonder about the story behind it. I'm sure the neighbors were pleased to see it all cleaned up.

I've done this with several neighbors... except - usually I'll wait until I see the neighbor out working on his property first... especially if its a "BIG" involve project. I want to be sure the neighbor has some investment in keeping it up - in the future. I've run into a few folks who get upset...if you offer charity... By 'helping' them ... it seems to go over a lot easier, I like these "GI Bll" development houses. these guys were so happy to get into a nice home. after coming back from war. I see way too many "Upgraded" houses - what seems to happen is the 2nd or 3rd generation can't get qualified for a home loan ... being fixed up, costing way too much after some house-flipper developer finishes them. I've seen this happen on the West coast. by the time they get improved.... It gets turned into million dollar property. The average blue collar worker can't afford to live there any more...property taxes go way up.

@@JustinAEgan I am kinda one of those GI guys I have seen many houses I would like to get and fix up, I am sure I can do a lot of the work just can't afford the house itself. And the VA won't fund the ones that need TLC. One day though. So for right now I'm back in school learning a new trade.

@@gregghierholzer ... you 'almost' hit the nail on the problem....except its not the VA causing the problem. A VA loan still has to go through a bank or some state, local program(which still has to get funding from a bank or financial institution. My"personal problem" is I like to help people - but I don't make it a habit.... When I was a kid... I used to hang out a local garage. The owner ran me off 9 or 10 times before He let me hang around the shop, after school. I learned how to fix cars, build or re-build motors... for free. The owner Never paid me one cent. the best I could hope for was lunch, a sandwich or maybe a cold soda - every now and then.... I was the shop Go - fer. The "VA" does not finance home loans... all they do is guarantee the loan. Never has, never did - never will. The difference is like having an Uncle, brother or maybe a father, who will "Stand - good for you to buy a house, but will not give you the money, out of his own pocket". Or put up bail to get you out of jail - but he ain't going to sell his house to to do it. It's point is for you to stand on your own 2 feet... to convince some outside person to do the loan. One step removed... some of the hardest money to get from a debt - is "family" debt. i made the mistake of loaning my younger brother money to buy his 1st car... haven't seen that money again - it's been 10, 20 years! ... I'm still pissed about being that dumb.

These always make me feel sad. I wonder what has happened for the person to let it get into such disarray. It's obvious by the pretty landscape bricks that someone at one time wanted to have a pretty and inviting yard. I always wonder if a person has died, is disabled, doesn't have family, depressed....all these things. I can't imagine walking past all the overgrowth every day. Just entering and leaving my home would be depressing. I wouldn't willingly allow any of my family to live like that if possible. Maybe it doesn't bother some people. It still looks depressing.

Yes, unfortunately things happen to people who do truly care about their garden and it prevents them taking care of it anymore. I have a garden I spent a lot of time and money on. But 6 years ago I became disabled. Now I can't walk well on my good days and standing is very painful. My neighbours have been awful, bullying, abusive, smashed my green house and my house windows. I had eggs thrown at my home.... Not one of them has ever asked why my garden is now overgrown.... I cry a lot and I'm afraid to be in my home or in my garden due to the verbal abuse. The neighbours make up story's about me filled with lies to try and justify their behaviour of me. It has shown me the true cruelty of humanity. I wish there were more people like this man that tries to help

It happens before you know it, and than is too much for some to handle. My yard is a wreck and I am handicapped in my sixties, my husband has to work two full time jobs. I had to care for my mom so I had to leave my jobs a few years ago, mom needed 24/7 care, she needed changing, feeding cutting up food, on oxygen and needed meds to be given....so our yard was not the first thing on our minds. My husband always mows the front yard in the little time he has at home but the back is unreal. It is true, that it is happen to handicapped and old people. We do care but there are so many more important problems going on. This guy is a blessing to those that he helps.

What I really like about your videos is that you take the time to clean up the clippings. Many just leave them piled in the grass. Your edging is the best. Beautiful job and what a great yard!

These are lousy times in the US. What a gift to be reminded that there are kind people out there like you.

Looks like somebody had all the good intentions for this yard, with the wooden planters etc. - and then life got in the way somehow. Thanks for making somebody's life a little easier!

This wasn't just lawn care, this was God's work done here.

Thorough, thoughtful and he makes sure that no stone is unturned and cleaned up in each home, including lawn clippings. Fill is the best of the BEST! Just because someone had this huge tractor doesn’t mean that they are going a great job. Fill is probably one of the best out there, bar none.

I love when people help each other out...but the amount of mature perrenials and younger trees you cut down.... I would cry.

You are the only lawn guy who still RAKES up the debris!!!!!!!! Makes it so much better ... unless I don't know something!

That yard is so pretty with the brickwork and several perennials, was probably one of the better yards at some point. Thanks Fill for tidying it up. Looks terrific! 💚

In other of these they commented the city picks up the cut limbs etc. They call when done for the pick up. It is not just left.

This is all the advertising that Stihl needs for their battery line of equipment. It took all that with no issues, and it didn’t appear that you had to change the battery. 👍🏻

You the man. Tip: Use several small tarps. Rake onto the tarps and roll them up like a burrito and load. So much easier and less trips to the truck. Thank you for what you do.

God bless for what you are doing to help people. As someone who is the recipient of a neighbor's continual kindness, I know what it means to receive help. People like to call code enforcement but won't do what you're doing. You restore my faith in humanity, sir.

He's not cutting the grass. He's harvesting the grass! Sometimes it is not the height of the grass, but the size and shape of the lawn that makes it so difficult and takes extra time to cut and mow the lawn.

Another great job Fill. You go the extra mile on every one you tackle. It is a great service that you are doing.

All the lawn guys where I live blow the leaves and grass and dirt into the road and it drives me nuts that they're too lazy to pick it up like they should. You do really good work and if I lived anywhere near you, I'd hire you in a heartbeat! Yard looks amazing. Such a cute house now!

This was an outstanding job! Yes, that was plain old English Ivy. I’m glad that you didn’t cut down the iris. You were careful with all of their plants. I watch for things like putting the water hose back, getting trees next to the house, pulling up grasses that can be removed and my #1, not leaving all of the grass clippings on a freshly cut lawn. You checked all of the boxes on this one. Beautiful yard!

@@robinr.9007 Lol, they get paid by views! You used to be able to just google income of you tubers and you would get accurate numbers. They scrubbed the truth in that too. The large channels....20k to 60k per month. smaller ones 60k and 100k per year. The more views the more they get paid.

Fill is one of the most thorough workers I've seen on KZread. This is one of the top makeovers I think I've seen. You turned a hideous yard into a eden again. I bet the homeowner forgot how nice there landscape really was. Everyone deserves a break once in awhile. Good job Fill, keep it up you should be proud!

The raking and bagging of the leaves sped up is the most satisfying part of this video.

Quality work by someone who takes pride in what they do. I enjoyed watching.
